Hello Everyone,

The Lepton EX is my first Heli and I want to thank Bob for the great build video's. I am doing just fine because of the good manual and the video's and I should be ready to fly in a month or so. I have been using the G3 Sim for several months now so if I take it real easy I should be OK. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to let me know.

I do not have any power pack, balancer or charger yet, ran out of money!
I am not sure what to use anyway.

You may continue Hyperion way with LiteStorm VX batteries, LBA10S balancer(s) and 1210 charger. The pros of this way is that you may charge two packs simultaneously. And get a ball link reamer - even Hirobo balls and rods may need an adjustment. Check that flybar control moves without any resistance.

Anopther good combo is the FlightPower 3700 4S packs and personally after using many chargers you really cant beat the TP 1010C and 210 balancer. Yes they are more expensive though. The hyperion stuff does work good and I still have mine but the 1010 is all I use now. Knowing your balancer readings and your cell health is a neat feature.

I'll second the thank you to Finless for the vids. Really a ton of good information, and especially the change in the build order to mount the motor before everything else is in the way. Thanks Bob! :noteworthy

I have checked into the Hyperion lba10s balancer and charger combo and found a price of $182.00 which I can live with. The Litestorm VX battery adds another $250 and that is just too much for me. I know this Lepton will be a great heli but it has cost me much more I had to spend. Can anyone help me find a charger, balancer, battery combo that I can live with. I think I only need a 3 cell battery but I am new at this stuff and I want to get the right parts. Is it possible to just charge the heli battery from a car battery and just forget the charger and balancer untill I can come up with more cash!

Thanks

Have a look at the CellPro 4S charger/balancer. Only $65, and $10 for the ThunderPower adapter.

Only if you want to make some more "exploding lipo" videos for YouTube ;)

I do not want to make any exploding lipo videos!
Thanks Peter.

I also bought the Cellpro 4S for my first charger until i get a little deeper into this electric stuff...has been a great charger so far. Built in balancer, restores bad cells, even supposed to safely charge the batteries hot right out of the heli (although i don't do it). Great bang for the buck in my opinion....not that my opinion matters much seeing as how i am a novice backyard flyer and this is my fiirst 'lectric anyways...

Thanks for the info on this Cellpro charger. Sounds like a good way to start to keep the cost down for my Lepton. Can you tell me what battery you are using with your Lepton. This charger and a battery is the last thing I need to buy to get my heli off the ground.

Thanks to everyone for helping me!

You may try to use 3S batteries, but in this case you should change motor to 3025-8. 3025-10 is for 4S setup.

Thank you Gosha. I did not know my 3025-10 was for a 4s setup. I guess I will need to get a 4s battery because I do not want to change my motor. Can you tell me where I can get a 4s battery under $150.00.

Hmm... You may try to find a Yuntong 4S 3200mAh batteries (equivalent to original Hirobo pack, which is made using Kokam cells) for a such price. Sorry, but can't point exactly to shop :(

Just a real quick looksee and i see that RCHover.com has the Flight Power battery that Finless recommended above for about $170....that's about as close to your target price as i see....
