View Full Version : Really silly question about mounting the main blades

Okay this is really silly, but...

The little discs that sandwich the main blades have a smooth side and a pebbled side. Which way did you guys install them? Smooth against the grips or pebbled against the grips. It probably doesn't make a difference, but it's been bugging me, so I had to ask.

TIA,

I have been putting the smooth side to the blades. I figure it is better to have the blades move on the disks than the disks move against the grips and chew up the disks.

Sounds good to me. Thanks Bob, I'm going to go with that. :)

Do other helis use discs like our beloved Lepton? The Rappy 30 I had a few years back did not. Why don't the after market blade folks just make the blade root the same width as the grips?

Am I missing something? I do see that it evens out the force that the grip put on the blades so that they lead/lag smoother, but they are a pain to install.

I'll stop whining now. :)
