Well, I'm asking here as I'm a Logo guy, and I don't want more opinions than I can read.

I'm currently flying a DX-6 and really like it - except for it's limited range. Now this isn't a problem for my Heli's, but I fly planks too. I really want to run 1 radio, so was thinking of upgrading to a DX-7. Then I saw that the DX-7 is offered in 2 versions a plane and a heli.

First, what's the difference?

Second, is there a need to upgrade to the DX-7 for my heli's at all, or will the DX-6 be good for all I do?

Third Has anyone seen the new Futaba 2.4ghz system? Thoughts? Seems like it's more like the DX-6, but with the range of the DX-7?

Heli's are
Logo 10
Raptor 30
TRex 450
Concept 30

Planks are:
25e Trainer
Mini Funtana X
GWS P51D

and a couple of more on the way, and I'm always expanding my fleet, so there is no telling what will end up there at any given time.

Thanks!
Wayne

The heli version comes with a smooth throttle/collective stick out of the box, the flight mode switch is in the proper position (top left corner), and it defaults to a heli model type when you create a new model. Other than that, the software and operation are identical.

The DX7 offers many advantages over the DX6 for helis including true 5-pt curves for each flight mode, better resolution, much better eCCPM handling, and better latency performance. The gimbals also feel much better and are ball bearing supported which means they should stay that way for a long time.

The DX7 also has a larger and graphical display which makes setup much easier.

The programming features are more like the DX7 than the DX6, but it has a tiny non-graphical screen for programming. That's all I know about it right now since I haven't had a chance to play with one yet.

I think you would be quite pleased with a DX7. And, it will work with your existing AR6000 receivers unlike the Futaba.

The difference in the ccpm mixing alone is worth it.

Well, it's settled then, I'm going to go with the DX-7 for everything - but,... (and I know I'm going to get spanked here) I'm going to go with the Airplane version. I happen to like the detents on the throttle stick. Also as I don't fly 3D (yet), I'm not super concerned with the location of the flight mode switch. Of corse I could always revert the throttle stick on the Heli edition I guess.

Oh well, regardless, the DX-7 is what I'm going to get.

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, I sold my 9Z and never looked back as well,
The DX7 has every feature I would ever need and mainly fly 3D. Put simply, the radio offers the right features, simple to program, with the latest RF tech. that works very well,
Maybe they could offer a carrying case - but thats all I can say on the neg. side.

The Horizon Hobby website is listing a new carry case for the DX6 & DX7. It is $60. Here is the link: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=SPM6701
