I just finished putting one of these together, and it's a pretty nice kit. I've only fit the mechanics and did the basic assembly so I could test fly it, and get some tuning done. It went together in about 6 hours. The kit is straightforward and the instructions are OK. Paint and scale detailing yet to come...

Do you want the rocket pods and wings? I need some to experement on making some of the small "NO STEP" decals on with clear coat and such, I'd be happy to make you markings if they work out in exchange.
Nice pictures btw, I saw them over on the other site this morning, 6 hours, you must put the nose to the grind stone dude!

Assembling the landing struts in the fuselage was the hardest part... that was probably two hours of the build. The rest was a cakewalk... :D
Weight w/o fuel is 9.5 lbs, and I've had to do some tuning to get it to fly well. I think I was a little rich before, as I ended up leaning the motor out a bit. I'm still playing with the pitch curves.
The extra weight really steadies it up and it's much easier to fly scale than the pod/boom config.
I don't plan on using the rocket pods on this, but I'm not quite ready to get rid of them. I've got some other projects in mind, and may save the parts for the bin...

hi,
If you had an Hatori tuned pipe on a hyper 50 is there still room for the md 530 fuse to go around the muffler, and is this bird still capable of 3d manourvres with the extra weight. I was thinking more along the lines of flips and rolls rather than funnels etc.

I'm not sure about the Hatori, as I don't have one. I did have a Muscle Pipe on the heli and it would fit in the fuse. I went back to the stock muffler for noise.
I seriously doubt you will do any 3d with this. Maybe big loops or rolls if you're flying at sea level... I'm at 5000ft and won't be attempting any such antics!

I understand completely.
I think I'm going to take some black 400 wet/dry sand paper and make walk ways on the top of the wings, it worked out well on the skids I made for a funky Jet Ranger and tinker with some "no step" markings and such on my laser printer.

I'm in love with that helicopter body. Great pics.
Got a question for ya though.
Does the side door open so you can get to the battery on/off switch when the windows are installed, or do you have to relocate the on/off switch?

The doors dont open, I'm only installing the front windows and leaving the back ones out for cooling, fuel and switch access.

I didn't think about cooling.
What happens if you leave all the windows in? How does the motor get rid of heat?

Well theres a cooling hole cut into the bottom under the head so it would have to come in from the top by the dog house, I just dont think thats enough cooling air. Others that have flown it say to leave the back windows out.
