I was at my LHS this weekend trying to find out about the new Avant coming out (soon?).
Anyway, it was suggested to me that I should get a MA instead.
So, my question is... If I'm flying a TRex 450 and a Raptor 50 currently, Which MA machine would you guys suggest?
Thanks for the imput!

Looking for nitro.
If I may ask, why Stratus?

It is light weight, easy to work on, flys extemely well. You can look at many videos in the video forum of the Stratus being flown. It is predictable and flys as well as the pilot can fly it.

Okay guys... need some help now!
I've looked all over the net & can't find anyone who is selling the Stratus.
Seems to be discontinued. :arggg:
Where might I find one of these fine machines?

You can get it from MA or one of the dealers. RHR and Rick's come to mind. Thanks

There's nothing like flying a 90 size machine , especially the Stratus. It fly's like it's on rails , great power to weight. I love mine....
like clint said, you can get them at http://www.miniatureaircraftusa.com/ , Gravesrc.com , RHR , Ricks. I know GravesRC.com has them in stock
Graves RC - 1-407-294-5699 - 9am to 7pm EST , talk to Gary

Nice heli. Will be nicer with screw on fan and side frame stiffeners though. Pricey to fix! Look at getting it from Ron.. Good price!

Everyone... thanks for the advice. I didn't quite want to pony up the kind of dough that a stratus would require just yet, so I purchased a Fury Expert.
Any advice/tips on this bird would be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone know where I can get a manual for it?
By the way, i purchased it used and it is running a YS 61.
Thanks,
Steve

for all intents the manual for the extreme will answer any build/repair questions.
To upgrade to the Extreme version you will want to go to a metal tail gearbox, longer boom, longer blades and possibly the newer heavy duty clutch.
If the YS 61 does not have the stones you want, changing to an OS 70 is an option.
Any upgrade for the Extreme/ Stratus/ and several for the Tempest will be an easy retrofit, simply replace a part 1 for 1..

The YS 61 is a bit marginal for the Expert as already said by Wayne.
The OS 70 is a definite better option, it faired me well in mine.
Just keep running the YS61 until it's worn out and then consider an upgrade engine wise.
It's a great model as is, upgrades are optional (the bling thing) but not required.

Wayne... You have been very helpful to me throughout my progression. Thanks for the tips.
Alfred, thanks for the info... sounds like I picked up a pretty good heli.
Just a little background for you folks. I started in R/C this past November with a CX2. Bought my first "real" helicopter in December... Trex 450. In February, I picked up my Raptor 50 and still loving it. Finally moving on to some big things, I think, with the purchase of this Fury.
Thanks everyone for all your help.

stevejr72,
You didn't go wrong at all with the Fury expert...I have one with an OS70 & totally love it...It has replaced my Raptor 50 as my "beater" heli
I mean beater in respect to the fact it's my everyday flyer... The R50 was OK, but it would wear and get sloppy after a few gallons and you would have replace plastic parts with upgrade parts etc...
I found a deal on a 2nd hand Fury expert and haven't looked back... It was the best thing I could of done...While it doesn't have the power of my 90-size heli, it's a heck of a lot of fun and is a bit more economical on fuel :) ...especially when your down to that last gallon and the LHS is out of 30% ...
The only thing on the expert to keep your eye on is the plastic tail box...Especially if you are doing a lot of piro-type maneuvers... Plan on replacing it with the metal tail case down the road...That is the only upgrade the expert really needs...with that case the heli is pretty much bullet-proof!:glasses2:
Stay with 680/690 blades and it will rock n roll & never let you down...
Have a blast with your new Fury!

Thanks Chris. I also bought my Fury used from a local flyer here... I was told by everyone that I know that $750 RTF was a steal, so I took it.
One question for you or anyone else here that can answer...
If I'm running 680s, what size tail blades are recommended?
The cheap plastic ones that are on it now just aren't quite up to snuff.

run 105 v tail blades. You will need the blade spacers.

I got a used Stratus for $1300. It came with v-blades all around, O.S. 91 non pumped, SB 17, lipo and reg, 148 receiver, 611, gv-1, 8311's, new tank, full metal head and a nice canopy. Now all i have to do is wait for shipping :D
If you can hold out and just look around, you'll stumble into a good deal.

I got my Stratus for less than $500, considerably. If I told you what I got it for, you'd be sick.
