it says that it os possible in the manuel but i cant get it to work. i have a small foamie park flyer on the way and dont want it to have to haul the AR7000 around, plus thats already in my T-REX.

if someone could tell me step by step it would be greatly appreciated.

You use the exact same procedure for binding that you use for the 7000.

Bind plug must go in battery port. This implies either a switch harness or power from some other port (either is fine).

Bind plug in.

Power up RX

Hold bind button on back of DX7. Power Up DX7. WAIT A LONG TIME... the 7 tries DSM2 first and only goes to DSM1 (which is what the 6000 will 'hear') later. When it works, you'll suddenly have servo control.

Release bind button.

Power everything off and remove bind plug from receiver.

GO FLY!

(Remember to re-bind if you make a substantial setup change... it is binding that "memorizes" startup positions).

And be sure to have your throttle stick at minimum whenever binding since you definitely want you throttle failsafe setting to be right.

one question:

WAIT A LONG TIME

how long is a long time?

I haven't timed it, but it feels like a good solid 20 or 30 seconds.

do i have to use the bind plug that comes with the AR6000 or the one that comes with the DX7?

because i cant seem to get it to work, i did it just as you said above

Any/all the bind plugs are just a jumper from ground to signal. The "outer two" wires. You can even make your own bind plug with an old servo extension: Cut off the end you dont need. Shorten and insulate the center wire. Strip and connect the two outermost wires (twisting is OK). Neat trick to know if you are ever at the field without a bind plug.

Back to your problem: I have done this from a 7 to a couple of AR6000s. Works just fine. So, check the sequence carefully, and/or post some verification of your EXACT setup while binding... Switch harness or no? Bind plug where (in batt port, on switch harness...?), what power source? How connected?

One other thought: Be sure the TX is at least 1 foot away, but not more than 3 feet away, from the RX. Being too close can "Swamp", being to far can be too weak.

It's vaguely possible that the RX is defective... unlikely, but possible. Know anyone else, or any local shops, with another RX or etc. so you can do some checking?

ok i have the binfd plug in, no harness just a battery. power it up hold the bind button and then power on the tx. i hold it for about 30 seconds and still nothing. im gonna go try it again in a minute and tell you what happens.

ok here is wat i do in this oreder:
1. plug the bind plug into the battery port.
2. plug the battery in the AUX port
3. push down the bind button and turn on the tx

the light flashes for about 5 sec then just goes off. :dontknow :bomb:

This sounds right. Just for grins, I'm going to go rebind a 6000

OK, AR6000, DX7. Bind plug in "BAT", Battery in AUX, get a blinking light. I also put a servo tester in AIL, just so I could read pulses.

Put DX7 on a new/blank model (to not upset any of my existing). Powered up with bind button held in. At about 10 seconds (by the one mississipi... method), blinking stopped, light went solid, and I had aileron control (button still in). Released button; still have aileron control. Removed battery, removed bind plug.

Powered everything back up and rechecked. All fine...

ok i'll try it :?:

does the reciever light blink because i put the bind plug in and plug in the battery in the AUX and the light dosnt come on in the reciever. then i make sure the tx is about 2 feet away, hold the bind button and power up the tx, the light on the back blinks for about 3 to 5 sec and then goes completely off. :bomb:

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bomb: :bomb: :bomb: :bomb:

Yes, the light to which I was referring was in the receiver.

If you are not getting a blinking light in the receiver (with bind in BAT and a power source elsewhere), then it matters not what you do with the transmitter. You must get to the point of have a blinking LED in the receiver itself.

ok i'll see wat i can do.

i tried this just to make sure the rx wasnt bad. i did everything above except the binding. put in the bind plug, power in the AUX channel (still no light) and turned on the DX6, and after 3 seconds the light turned solid in the reciever.

now why would this happen with the DX6 but not the 7. the light didnt flash in the rx, but came on when i turned on the 6?

a buddy of mine who works at my LHS is haveing the same problems i am. he just cant seem to get the 7 to bind to the AR6000

If you are:

Bind plug in BAT
Power somewhere else

And the light in the receiver is not flashing (no TX, yet), then there is some problem.

Bad bind plug? One row off? something... because the bind plug will make the light in the RX flash, even with no TX at all.

but what dont get is the fact that the reciever works fine with the 6, but not the 7. i pluged in my servos today, pluged in the battery and turned on the DX6 and the light in the rx came on and the servos worked perfectly.

im so confused :dontknow :bomb:

Wow, this is a real "stump-er". Your LHS comment, that was a different Ar6000, correct? If so, pretty much rules out a bad RX.

It is so hard to put this into words, just typing... so again, forgive me if this seems over detailed:

1) Hold the AR6000 so that the writing is upright and normal. BAT plug is now on far left. Put bind plug in this BAT far left port.

2) Plug a 4 cell NiCd receiver battery (like the one that came with your 7), charged, into any other port.

You should now have a flashing light. Orange. Just about under the little "multi bar" Spektrum Logo. Do nothing with any TX... the light should be flashing right now. If not, we have a problem.

Try a different bind plug? Make one from an old servo extension: Cut off the connector that doesnt fit the RX, shorten and insulate the center wire, strip back the outer two wires and twist them together. Then try (1) and (2) above.

Again, forgive all the detail... trying to figure out why this won't work!! :)

ok so the bind plug just connects the two outer most pins right?

Danal Estes
03-28-2007, 05:10 PM
Correct.

A bind plug is "Signal" connected to "Ground" which are the two outermost. No active components, just a piece of wire. The "+" pin, the center, is not connected to anything in a bind plug.
