I was flying my Ion-X fitted with an actro 32-3 when the screw attaching the secondary gear shaft to the motor case fractured. I first thought it was a ESC cutoff due to low voltage.

As per usual I was half way through a low vertical flip to inverted when the power was lost. I managed to right the heli but it was a heavy arrival which fractured the UC.

Anyone else had this screw fracture. Seems a 4mm screw is pretty weak attachment for a motor with that power.

hey , yes , it happens alittle , one of the things to make sure you do , it its got to be snug enough not to have a gap between the flange peice on the shaft and the X part on the motor shaft base, if theres a sall gab , it will break , the other think that messes with it if vibration of the motor being out of balance. its easy to get the motor apart , take the aluminum cover off the front , theres a c clip , take it off , slid the windings out , get a punch , put it on the center of the broken bolt , tap it , the shaft will push out from the endside , you can order one from any place that sells actros, might take a while , Im making some of my own from a harden eco 8 shaft , Im useing the other end now ,

been there too :( what i found was the bearing which holds the pinion gear shaft was wearing out. this caused the shaft to vibrate more than it should and over time the same motor/shaft fracture occured.

i saved the thing luckily but doing autos when you have to is different to when you are practicing :)

check the bearing !!
