View Full Version : Esky cp2 servo issue

I got a esky cp2 recently, and it came with a extra cnc rotor head and "super skid" kit.

I played with it out of the box, and hopped around the yard, trying to figure out the hover thing - I did have some mild collisions, broke one pair of foam blades, got some scary hovers in.
I then put on the CNC head, and got wise, started with the first battery on RADD's school of rotary flight...
It ran fine for 1 more battery, but has some wobble. I decided to put on the "super skid" kit... put that on, and only had to disconnect the motor from the 4-in-1 and then re-attach it.
When I powered it back on, I could hear the sound of a servo struggling -
Then I noticed the front servo (elevator pitch I think) was pointing at 12 o'clock, as opposed to the normal 3 o'clock, forcing the swashplate to lean to the back.
I can only get it to go back to normal (3 o'clock) by pushing the right stick all the way up.

I didnt disconnect any of the servos from the 4-in-1, just that one motor plug on the other side.

Anyone know what may have caused this? Did I prang my 4-in-1?
Any suggestions?

Unplug both motors, turn heli on, center all sticks, and make sure servo arms are horizontal. If they are not, try unscrewing the arm and reattaching. But 4:1 needs to be on, and all sticks at center including throttle. That a basic first step in any heli setup. Also check that blade pitch is zero, ie. look at blade end-on, it must be parallel to the flybar.

The stock servos are basically S75's with soft gears that strip easily. So might have stripped a gear even with rough handling. 4:1 will not cause a servo to mis-align. Might be able to buy replacement gears for the S75 but they are cheap anyway. Thats where I would look. Hope this helps!

No luck.
I undid the servo arm, it still buzzes once it gets power.
I unplugged it from ch2 and swapped it with ch1 on the 4-in-1. The front servo still buzzes, the other servo in the back centers, so I assume it is not the 4-in-1.

Does this sound like something I could fix on the servo, or should I just pony up for a new one?

The wiring all looks good - not sure if you can take these little things apart or not.

If the trim is centered on the TX the servo is most likely history. It doesn't take much to trash the stock servos, good whack of a rotor blade against a solid object will do it.

After replacing all of them on my CP Pro one by one with leftover Spektrum S75's (same servo as stock Eflite and equally crappy), I replaced all of them with Hitec's, so far so good...

I just watched the servo repair video:

I took my servo apart, everything looked good - I put it back together again, and it worked!
Then I tested it to full movement, and when I pushed the right stick all the way down, it freaked out on me again and stuck at 12 o-clock and started buzzing. Guess I am back to where I started.
