Just received my DX7 today and noticed the TX emits a slight humming sound when powered on, is this normal?
Overall very impressed with this radio, especially after I figured out the pitch channel was AUX1

Yep, normal. The RF is actually emitted part time, the duty cycle coresponds to human auditory frequencys, what you are hearing is various components in the radio responding to the main bus voltage change as the RF turns on/off...
Mine does it also.

Substaintially less than your Cell Phone, your bluetooth headset, the 802.11 wireless APs in nearly any building you walk through...

The hum can be eliminated by doing the DimensionEngineering regulator mod but it is not really needed on a DX7 like it was on a DX6 (due to the lower power consumption of DSM2 and the bigger 1500mAh Tx battery) so it's not recommended to take the risk, at least not until the Tx is out of warranty
Info about the mod is here: http://www.dimensionengineering.com/appnotes/spektrum_mod/spektrum_mod.htm
