Hi this is my blade cx2 with a flashing tail light and two bright lights in the stub wings.Flown in the school sports hall ,after this flight I adjusted the servo links and crashed  I have shortened the flybar for the next flight.

Cool.....how did you wire it up? I was thinknig of a red solid light in back ,and a couple blue in the canopy myself. (blue canopy, V-tail)

Hi cant take any credit for the wiring job i bought them from an online rc shop. I guess it would be easy enough to un solder the white leds and resolder a diff colour, they just plug in to a spare channel on the receiver for power.Iwas thinking of adding a switch activated by channel 5 so i can switch them on and of while in the air.

I was just going to wire 3 LED's into series, and run off the receiver as well, depending on the voltage requirements of the LEDs.

I like the look of your lights. I was thinking that lights might help me with keeping track of the direction the helicopter is flying in. I seem to have a tough time telling which way it is pointing when it is off a little ways from me. this is especially hard for me when it is at or near eye height.

I was thinking that I would do white on the tail, and red and green for side markers as in full sized aircraft. (Red right returning and all that.) My thought was to wire the three LEDs with a little button battery so as not to use the rechageable battery. Short of wiring into the connector on my BCX, I don't see another place to make the connection. I don't think a little button battery would add much weight either.

If this helps, running LEDs in a series isn't a good idea (at least thats according to the post I read before doing mine). You guys probably already know but for those that don't, make sure you have a resistor for each LED that's rated below 7.4 volts (for the CX/CX2). To determine the resistor value needed use Ohm's Law. Soooo.........if you have a 3.4volt 20mah LED running off a CX/CX2 battery you'll need a 220 ohm 1/8 watt resistor. Here's a link with some good info and a resistor calculator at the bottom of the page.

For those that already know, this is for those that don't :?

How much current draw would LED's actually have? I don't think that much.....

Usualy around 20ma I believe. Depends on the LED.

Pretty cool. I got my CX2 yesterday and put some leds on.
Here is a quick view of it. None of it flying yet. I have to teach my wife how to video record it !

Way cool!!! And now I will have to spend more money for lights!!!
