I feel like I've come late to the party. I hope there's at least a few chips left in the bowl and the potato salad hasn't gone bad in the heat. This looks like a great group of knowledgeable folks. I hope you can teach me something.

I bought a BCX a few weeks ago and started practicing in the living room. It was good just to get the idea of how much power it takes to lift off and that sort of thing. Unfortunately I discovered we have a helicopter-eating couch. (At least Charlie Brown's kite-eating tree was outside.) After replacing a few parts and trying again and replacing a few parts and trying again, I was able to keep the chopper out of the couch's maw. I noticed over the weekend that the upper head would wobble when the lower rotor was spinning. Assuming the outer shaft was bent, I got a new one and installed it Monday evening.

Last night I went to the local indoor flying night sponsored by the local hobby shop where I bought my heli. Everything was cool until some kid flying an Air Hogs plane took out my helicopter. It broke the lower blades and seems to have damaged the gear on the new outer shaft.

I thought flying an RC helicopter would be cheaper than renting a Cessna 172 at $120 an hour. So far it would have been cheaper to fly the 172.

My question is this: Are the shafts for the Vortex coaxial directly interchangeable with the Blade CX parts? I found a link here in another thread to BP Hobbies. An outer shaft with gear is $4.05 while the one for the BCX is $8.99.

Thanks for the help.

As far as flying at the gym I learned a valuable lesson. When the Air Hogs come out, my BCX gets hangared in its box. Cheaper that way.

I think the BCX is the same as the CX2, except for the radio system, and color of the body? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here...... (I'm fairly new as well)

I think the Vortex shafts are longer than the Blade CX2 shafts, that might give a advantage in blade strikes, if they are the same as bladecx2.com....

For just a few bucks, I think I just might order a outer\inner shaft just to try them out.....
