I am working on the Trex-sa and Bob's video's have been excellent..better than the maual. Thanks Bob. After installing the gyro I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get connectors like the ones that are on the electronic parts..servos,gyros etc. What I want to do is shorten these wires and make the the electronics look cleaner. There must be a crimp tool also. Any input would be nice. Thanks.

Most well stocked Hobby Shops have servo accesories but Ive had good experience with Dee Tee Enterprises.

You will need both male and female connectors. I also bought mine from DeeTeeenterprises.com

Dont forget the crimpers if you dont already have small molex style crimpers.

While we are on the subject ..... Should you crimp and solder or just crimp?

HeliDan .... are these really Molex connectors or are you using the term generically? If yes I will have to raid the stockroom at work!

Molex being the company... different type of connectors.

I've done business with hansonhobbies.com. They make a kit with connectors, wire and crimps.

Pin and connectors, I dont know the mfg, but the crimp section looks like a molex, so I believe that the small section of a Molex crimper should work. As stated, Molex makes tons of different connectors.

I think your stockroom is safe.... And so is mine :arggg:

As for the solder/no solder. All very subjective. Soldered wires in a high vibration area are frowned upon, but if done properly are ok. Where as a properly crimped connector is fine without solder. Problem is that solder wicks up into the insulation and makes a quasi solid core wire, and solid core wired would never be good in a high vibe environment.

Yeah, I know we solder the deans connectors (or whichever you use), I said generally. That is a high current connection.

Much of the equipment I design at work gets vibe tested and so have some experience in this realm. Suffice it to say that soldered connections should be well restrained mechanically to avoid breakage/fatigue.

The only time we solder crimp connections [in my company] is when we must crimp a solid core wire, like a resistor or capacitor lead. You cant properly crimp a solid core wire.....

Good luck.............
