Hi,

I am learning to hover but I have recently found out my control is set-up on reeflex" tail in", can I reverse it so I can learn to fly nose in. Do I change Reeflex or my DX7 setting?

Thanks in advance.

Hey,

You dont need to change anything to learn nose in flying, just the way your brain tells you to move the sticks.

A model helicopter, when viewed from behind and the rudder stick moved left on the Tx should swing it's nose to the left. With models you always look at the nose of the model, if you want that to go left you move the Tx. stick left etc.

For nose in, you just reverse this in your brain and not the Tx or sim setup. But here's a little trick, with the nose pointing towards you look at the tail rotor.
If you want the tail rotor to go left add left stick and right and right stick. Look at your model nose in, you will see if you want the tail to go left the nose also goes left but it's just pointing at you.

Of course the tail is not the only control to reverse, the rest you just need to practice and learn but this is the advantage to having the sim.

Practice, practice, practice on the sim and the real thing will become easier and more safer to progress to as you will now have learnt the basics and more. At the end of the day the sim is no true replacement for actually flying the model, but it does teach you what to do with the sticks and when. I learn and indeed practice all my 3D flying on the Reflex, it does not give you the addrenalin and fear of crashing but It shows me what I have to do on the sticks.
