Where did you get the battery mount, or was that homemade?

Sweet looking machine. I was thinking the same thing Anthony.L was thinking when I looked at your pics.. Where did he get the battery tray? If you made it yourself could you give us some details on what you made it out of? Another pic of the tray without the battery to plz

Thanks for taking the time to post all the pictures of the battery tray, and the diagarm Jb2288 . I'm going to make me a tray like it using your pics. I will soon have a place to put the speed ctrl. thx again.
Oh ya let us know how your first flights are going. I put my mx450 together not to long ago. It's grounded till I get a better gyro.

Nice batt tray Jb2288,
I have done basically the same with CF and zip ties , others have used printed circuit board material, of FG board. They all get the job done and make more use of available space with the shelf and under side of the angle for hanging electronics from.

I used a piece of printed circuit board I got from Radio Shack, got the info on it here at Heli Freak. The cir board is to heavy in my opinion, as for making one out of carbon fiber. if you have a spare piece laying around to make it out of, thats cool, but as you know the stuff is very expensive, would be cheaper to buy a pre-made carbon fiber tray made for the t-rex or other small heli's rather than buying a small sheet of carbon fiber to make the tray. I like the aluminum because you can find or get a piece easy ,as long as the gauge of the metal is not to thick it will be light weight.

How about the temps of the ESC .. i have tried it .. The ESC gets very warm under the tray .. I use a Align 35A ESC ..

I use a Castle 35 with a separate bec and have had no problems with the ESC getting hot. I am also running a fiberglass-rex 450 canopy with the bottom window open so there is some additional airflow to help keep the electronics cooler.

Gizmo6035 did you get a 6volt bec or was there some other reason for the bec? I have a CC 35 also. I had a CC25 when I first got into electrics and my Shogun would loose power almost like a glitch in mid flight almost always when I was doing hard turns and stuff.I did some reading in the little paper that came with CC25 and found out the bec is made to handle only 1.5 amps or 3 micro servos , 4 servos will cause to much amp draw and cause the esc to overheat and cut off for split second. The shop where I bought CC25 traded me up to a CC35 which has a 3 amp bec.

I have had the same problem with CC-25s so I started using the Park BEC (5V) to keep things cooler on the ESC. Now I run the BEC as a safety device, even if the ESC quits working I still have power to the receiver so there is some hope of a controlled landing. I plan to upgrade to the 6V in the future to get a bit more cyclic speed.
