Can someone tell me the size of the rubber grommets that go in a Fury Tempest? Are there any special ones that I need to use?

I bought some yesterday at a hardware store but they tore while trying to get them in.

Also, whats the easiest way to cut a switch hole in an already painted canopy?

Scott.
If I remember correctly the ID of the grommets is 7/32. At least when I measured them with a ruler that is what I came up with. They are about .190 ID when using calipers to measure the ID. Radio Shack sells a pack of assorted vinyl grommets for less than $2. There is about 6 grommets of the right size in that pack.

Probably the safest way to cut a hole in a painted canopy. Take some masking tape and place it over the area where you want the hole to be. Then draw the shape you want on the masking take. Make a hole in the canopy in the center of the hole shape you want with a drill bit. Then use a sanding drum or grinding stone to finish the shape of the hole. The masking tape will help protect the paint and prevent it from chipping at the edge of the new hole. Now seal the edge of the hole with epoxy or CA to keep fuel residue from getting under the clear coat.

Those Radio Shack grommets are the cat's ass for canopy mounting. Really durable.

BTW, of late they're hard to find in the Radio Shack stores (I mean they're in the store, but where?). Look in the component drawers where the mounting nuts and bolt and so forth are. Or search for grommets on the store's website.

I get mine at Lowes-in the hardware isle- in the drawers. Not sure of the size-- I just eyeball them.
