First thing I did once I had charged my first Lipo pack ever, was to fire up my newely assembled T-rex, and hovering and hovering and hovering until the battery was as dead as the Dodo, making 100% sure I had drained it as much as I possible could, you know, the way we had to do with cellphones way way back in the dark ages... Justed to be important to drain the batteries as much as possible before you charged them.

A few weeks, and many charged and discharged I hear rumours that you where not supposed to drain the battery belowe 60% the first few charged :arggg:

Got my first balancer this week, and lets just say it got quite a headace from trying to sort that pack out. It still flys, but it seems I cant really trust it.

Is there something like a FAQ or a care guide out there that anyone know and can recommend? They are to expensive to replace every 10 charged or so :bomb:

A few basic facts and rules worth knowing:

LiPo per cell nominal voltage = 3.7V
LiPo per cell fully charged = 4.2V
LiPo per cell safe discharge limit = 2.9V

Overcharging = fire
Overheating = fire
Overdischarge = ruined
Puncturing = fire

Guidelines (for safety and maximum lifetime):
* Never leave a lipo unattended when charging
* Never leave lipos in your car in hot weather
* Charge in a fire safe container (eg old saucepan, pyrex/ceramic dish, ammo box) and ideally a fire safe location with nothing flammable overhead or adjacent
* Never discharge more than 80% of the rated capacity
* Discharge new lipos only 50% at light load for the first 3 to 6 cycles
* Isolate in a fire safe location for at least 1hr after a crash, an accidental short or any other abuse.

This link should help very much with questions about care and use of lipos. Very straight forward and simple.
