hovering??

Quick question. How high should I be to practice hovering? Also, approximately how high do I need to get before I'm out of ground effect with a .30 heli?

I think the rule of thumb is 1x the disc diameter.

Staying in that general altitude will keep you from your own rotor wash and still keep you close enough to the ground that a mishap (hopefully) wont hurt your bird too much.

I'm getting ready to take mine down. I have a 135 gal reef. I'll go back to something in fresh water as the cost as well as maint is much lower. I cant afford both a reef and helis in both time and cash.

That being said... with my reef hardware going to ebay soon, I'll be able to pick up another heli by mid summer :)
