Hi all i am new to this site and new to this hobby.
I am looking at taking up rc helos as a hobby for my self.
I have been looking around different forums and web sites over the last week trying to gather info into this hobby. Iam currently working overseas at the moment for about 3 or 4 months so i have time to decide what i want and what i will need.
Im looking at buying the G3 simulator in the next week or so and i will be learning to fly on that untill i get home.
The main question is about models?
I have been looking at Bergen intrepid, Century predator gasser, or Vario benzin trainer. The reason they are all gassers is i wish to do larger scale airframes and not 3D flying. My friend that i work with owns raptor 50's and 90's and he said i should get a raptor 50 but i dont think i want the hassle with all the extra stuff with nitro if im going to go for larger scale models in the future. :dontknow
Any coments at all will help.
P.S. i know the gassers are expensive but that should not be a problem.

You need something affordable to learn wit, you WILL crash at some point. There is a bit of logic behind his statement to go with a rappy 50, I'd reccomend you seriously consider it.

I was giving it a thought thanks wayne as i could always put an MD 530 on it for a scale start.(after much practice and crashing)

You don't need to set a rappy up for 3D. Set it up nice and calm and after you learn on it.. do as you said and put a nice scale fuse on it.

Will give you a great start and your next one can be a bigger ship that you wont crash as much :)

Thank you both for your suggestions i will take them on board and i will get a raptor 50. I suppose if i get a raptor it would give me something to fly later down the track while im building a scale airframe. I was also looking at the Futaba 9C radio, is that a good radio to start out with and progress on with later on in my flying.

The Raptor 50 and the 9C is a great combo. The other component I would also recommend is the Futaba GY401 gyro and tail servo combo and you will be set. I think you will really like the Rappy as it flies well and is cheap to repair in a crash.

Good luck.

Ditto what they said. The Titan is a pretty nice kit to start with, a hyper 50 is a good engine and the titan will drop right into that md530 (after a few hours of fussing with the landing gear)
