Hello all, I just bought a new Lepton and most of the accessories to set it up. This is my second heli. I’m coming from a Blade CP and tons of simulator time while I was deployed in the middle east. Here's what I already ordered:
-Lepton EX kit
-Spekturm DX7
-TP 1010C charger with 210V balancer
-Futaba GY611 + S9256 gyro/servo combo
-3 Airtoronisc 94761Z servos for cyclic
-Kontronik Jazz 80-6-18 ESC
-Kontronic kora 15-12 motor
-68mm tail blades
-stretched vertical fin
-18T and 19T .6 module pinions (for 5S)

I still have to buy 2 FP evo 3700mah 5s packs or 2 TP 3850 mah 5s packs. Which ones should I get? Any advice will be much appreciated.
I want to go 5S so I can use the packs for future projects too.

My other big question is. Will the Kora 15-12 work well with the above batteries and pinions? Or was the 15-14 a better choice (with different pinion). I know with 5s the 15-12 will be right around its RPM limit of 15000, but I don’t know if this has adverse effects on the motor.

And lastly, would you add anything or change anything on this setup?

This hobby rocks!
Thank you for your time

I just put the maiden flight on my Lepton yesterday. The power system is Kora 15-12 / 22t pinion / Jazz 55-10-32 / TP 4s 3850. At first spoolup with the throttle curve at 75% the head tached out at 2900. I had to back off to 55% to get it down to 2650. I'm probably going to change to a 21t pinion for 4s. Hope this helps.

Other than that, my impressions were very positive. The cyclic is responsive, so I'm going to add some exponential (probably should have started with some!). Only did some very gentle forward flight while I'm gaining some confidence that my build is solid and reliable. Then I need to pickup another pack or 2 and start to wring this baby out! :smokin:

Thanks for the info. I cant wait till the stuff i ordered gets here next week to start my build. Are you going to stay with 4s?

I will be sticking with 4s for the foreseeable future. I'm just doing basic stuff like loops, rolls, flips, etc. If I keep progressing, I might want to try 5s, but currently it's not in the plan.

You're going to love the Lepton. Everything goes together really nicely. While you're waiting for the goodies to arrive, you can review the Finless build videos if you haven't been already. :)

Lastly, welcome home.

% in gov mode means nothing with the Jazz. If you want to be sure of your setting you have to test with a normal mode and see how much % you need to hover at the HS you want. Don't forget the Jazz is full power at about 90% on the stick even once it's calibrated. You have to lower your ATV in the TX software to have the red led on only when at full stick (or very, very close). For 2650 HS 22T should be good. Since you have better batt packs than me (Hyperion), you may need a 21. But start with teh radio ATV thing.
