Hello!

I have been searching Internet and its forums for weeks now regarding Ariel Photography, and finally I found this AP forum. :D

Now, I was first thinking of buying a Trex 450 to lift a smaller cam, but when I realized that some of u guys where using bigger eloctrohelis to shoot both HDvideo and HDphotos, there where no doubt anymore. :glasses2:

I Want to buy me a Trex600, Logo 10/14/20, Swift, Maxi Joker or a ION-x. I don't know what its gonna be just jet, but I'm guessing a Trex600

So, what I was wondering about was what kind of setup you use for different helis, eks: Trex, Logo, Swift, Maxi?

*Gyro
*Battery
*Motor(!)
*ESC
*Blades

--That kind of stuff!! To get all the power the heli can handle...
Also; pictures of your camera mount would be very helpful

Thanks allot!

www.askmanap.com has plenty of solid information on AP, including panning underslung AP mounts.

Michael,

That's quite a range of helis in terms of size, performance, cost and what might be suitable electronics. Perhaps if you could share more info you might get more focused responses. Do you have a budget in mind ? What kind of AP are you considering ? Is for hobby or commercial purposes ? Single operator or dual operatior ? What class(es) of cameras do you want to be able to lift ? What flight times are you looking for ? What is your skill level as an R/C heli pilot ? Do you have a preference for electric, nitro or gasser (looks like electric but have you considered the alternatives) ?

A T600 is probably the budget choice for a reasonable payload but perhaps comparatively short flight times compared to say a properly setup Logo. Maxi-Joker or IonX are getting into fairly expensive territory but probably offer the largest payload capacity for eHelis, although I am not sure about this.

Kgfly,

I will try to be more specific:

I was thinking about doing AP for commercial use, since I already have a registered photographer/design business. But since Im not the most skilled heli pilot I would have to begin in a simulator and then try out with cameras after.

At first I wanted to lift my Nikon Digital slr camera, but with the KIT lens its weight is over 1 kg witch is way too much for any electric heli to handle after what I've heard! So I guess I'll begin with another digital cam, maybe a canon or fujifilm compact camera, Ive heard those are good cameras... :)

The reason I want a eHeli is because of the mess that nitro tends to be.

I was thinking a budget around $1500

Nice Trex, flyingrhino :)

That amount of wieght is not too much. My trex600 i was easily carrying a Sony R1 which wieghs about the same. I am now using a joker 2 which can carry quite a bit more wieght. 1Kg is probly too much for a smaller heli like the logo 10 or swift.

With a budget of around 1500$ that will limit what you can get as far as heli's go. My joker 2 kit alone was 1200$, then you have 400$ per pack then 300$ for the electronics, then 200 for charger. I easily have over 3k invested in just the joker alone.

1500$ will get you something like a trex 600 with a few batts, charger, and mostly everything you need.

Its probobly a Trex600 then... You say that for 1500 I will get a few batts, charger, and mostly everything thats needed.. But what if I raise my limit to around 16-1700$ What kind of Trex 600 could I then get? :glasses2:

Could you please tell me what setup that is good for AP. Like motor esc battery etc. Cause I need to know what to ask the dealer of, when I order u se ;)

Thanks

Michael.

In my opinion a stock TRex 600 is not a very suitable AP/AV platform, due to the inefficient power system, which is based on a low voltage setup. The design layout is flawed as well, in my opinion, and not easy to change. It is also a lot bigger and heavier than something Like a Logo 10 or a Swift, for instance, so you will be spending a lot more in batteries for roughly equivalent performance.

I don't know about what's available in Norway, but over here you can get a basic Logo 10 or a Swift kit for under $250. Either will allow you to run more affordable battery setups and both will come closer to allowing you to stay under your budget. No way, in my opinion, you can get a TRex 600 setup properly and have enough left over for "a few batts and a charger" .

If it were me I'd wait a month for the new Logo 500s to be available.

GGoodrum,

Actually, I think its easyer to get a Logo 10 than a trex600 here in norway, not sure about it really...

But what about the Mikado Logo's... Are LOGO 10 the smallest of them, and LOGO 24 the biggest? I think LOGO 500/600 sound good to wait for though :) They are more expiriensed than Align after what I've heard...

Maybe finnless Bob will make a "How to build it correctly" video of 500/600 LOGO after it's out in the store  (Heeeloo, are you reading this, finnless?? :D )
