Hi!
Got my Power Jazz some time ago, and should try it today on my Ion-X with 12S...yes..I try once again with 12S and two stage gearing even that I had promised my self not to do it with a two stage gear and the NEU motor ;-)....the difference this time is that I use a 52T secondary gear instead of a 60T gear, and I can do it with the new power jazz esc because of the "active free wheeling circuit" where it can be operated unlimited in part load conditions......so I had to check it out.
First impression of the manual is that the information given is limited, too limited I think as some information is missing in my manual.
So here is some IMPORTANT info that I found out.
- It doesn't come with slow start pre programmed, so among other reasons one need the order nr. 9305 progcard to setup the esc. for heli use.
- It doesn't say in either the progcard or esc. manual that the main battery has to be connected to the esc before the progcard works, but it must.
- I couldn't get the Auto(APM) stick position to work, so changed it to Fixed with the progcard. And to set the fixed positions one need a servo cable with two male connectors to connect channel 3 on the receiver and to the RX input on the progcard. Anyway, with the fixed mode one don't have to programm the APM at every start up, so maybe it is just a little easier just to use the fixed mode.
- The progcard it self is just a raw printcard with a loose label and too strong diodes.....ok, it works so not really a problem just not much finish and luxury over this progcard :-).
Well, that was first impression of the manual, not impressed, but the controller it self might be a fantastic controller...I will find out soon :-)
Had only a single test flight today, so too early to make any conclusions by now...will come later, but the antispark feature is very nice.
PS.
Had a successful and powerful second flight with app. 2100 RPM on the head with a flat 70% throttle curve, except for a stripped secondary gear...12S is simply just too much power for these gears.
The controller worked perfectly on this flight, and it was a very powerful 5 kg 12S3700ma FlightPower powered heli, so I only need a belt drive there can handle the power.
