I am considering a stock QJ-EP8v2 with the following setup:

Motor: Z20 (1470kv) motor
ESC: 60A ELE
Batt: 4S1P 4100mAh 12C/20C (49/82A)
Pinion: 12/13/14t for 1800 to 2200rpm

I am very interested if anyone out there is flying a Z20 motor in a stock EP8v2 and have the following questions:

Z20 fit in stock EP8v2 frame
I have read that any motor wider than 38mm won't fit the frames and interferes with the servo mount(s). The Z20 is 43mm diameter but is promoted as a good motor for the EP8v2. Yet it needs the frames filed back and possibly a less than optimal servo setup to fit.

* Did you have problems installing the Z20 and how did you resolve them ?
* Was it worth it in the end ?

Z20 power system selection
* What batt/pinion combo do you use with the Z20 and what headspeed and flight duration do you get ?

Thanks Freaks :)

I would recommned getting the EX, it has some nice upgrades (main shaft diameter, tail shaft diameter, stronger head, mixing arms for more pitch range). And the blue color is so much nicer. :)'

Jimboflies here and on RR has been flying some Z power motor that he is REALLY high on.

Bump - anybody flying an EP8 with a Z20 ? How about with an AXI 2820 or 2826 ? Help me out here Freaks.

I have used both an AXI 2826/8 and the Zpower 1470 in my EP8. The Zpower has more headspeed and as a result hovers just above half throttle. The Axi needed just over 2/3 throttle. Flight times are between 7-10 minutes of gentle circuits with hovering.
The only modification I had to do was to file the sideframes where they peek over the motor mount flush with the mount. (for the Zpower, the AXI needed nothing) The Pinion I use for the Zpower is an 18tooth, with the AXI is used a 21tooth pinion. As per recommendations from TOTALERC
Was it worth it? Well I am still using the Zpower motor, have just upgraded from 3 to 4cell Lipo's and fitted 430mm Blades instead of the stock woodies. Have no idea as to headspeed, as have not been able to fly anywhere but my backyard since the upgrade. And for some reason, I don't know why, I seem to have a bit of trouble flying and reading the tacho at the same time. So I decided it was better to wait till I could get to the field and ask someone else to read the tacho

I am about to stick a Scorpion 3026-1000 on my EP8. I bought it for my Hurricane 550, but it looks like the -1210 or -1400 are better choices for the Hurry.

I still really like this helicopter.

The new EP9 looks sweet also. And they are working on an EP5.
