Andrew,

Glad to hear that moving the weight work out well.

The heli will tend to drift to the left due to the thrust from the tail rotor. This is normal and you quickly learn to compenstate at take of with a little right cyclic, it just become automatic after a while. For this reason it is normal for a heli in a stable hover to be leaning slightly to the right.

I am going to be using a futaba gy401 gyro and a 9650 tail servo and i have a dx7 radio with ar7000 receiver and hs65mg,s on cyclic so it is going to be almost exactly the same as your setup.
As for the gorilla gear i have seen the reviews and heard all about the standard landing gear so i think they will b on the cards also.
let me know how u go with your trex and i will let u know as soon as mine leaves the ground...

Thanks again Ken! had another hover tonight Made up some makshift landing gear with some aluminum Getting better all the time at staying in the air but a bit windy though so hard to stay put....hence I stacked tail first bending the tail rotor shaft and stripping the teeth off the belt oops (more spares to order) on that I think I will (going off your article on chargers) buy the BC6 which I hope is easy to drive
Question do I need an adaptor (another lead) for my li-pos as their charger lead has 4 wires ( black, green ,blu & red) with a rectangular plug about 12x4mm in size
Will order from wattsuprc Can you point mme in the right direction Is their a multi type that suits other types of 11.1s mmy two are Inhobby 11.1v 2300MAH (I am a sparky but i mess with a lot larger voltages than this so am a bit thick when it comes to all the lingo eg 2s 3s etc Helppppp! :dontknow

Andrew,

Unfortunately there are three or four balance plugs that are in common use, the manufacturers cannot seem/don't want to agree on a single standard. If you order your BC6 from www.wattsuprc.com.au they have several different adapter sets.

I cannot find a photo on the web of an "InHobby" lipo so cannot see what your connector looks like. Take a look at the BC6 adapter boards (2S to 6S) at wattsuprc and see if you can spot a connector that looks like yours.

http://wattsuprc.com.au/product_detail.asp?pid=EAC124
http://wattsuprc.com.au/product_detail.asp?pid=EAC128
http://wattsuprc.com.au/product_detail.asp?pid=EAC129

Otherwise find photos of the lipo brands they list for each board and see which one has a balance connector the same as yours and order that adapter board.

Personally, although it is a few dollars more, I would order all three adapter adapter boards so that I wouldn't get caught out down the track when perhaps buying a new battery that turns up with a different balance plug.

I think you will find the BC6 easy to use. The manual is very clear. Just be sure to ask if their stock has had the firmware fix for the "Cell#2 voltage display problem". There was a batch of BC6 that would incorrectly display the voltage on Cell#2, although the actual charge process was not affected. The firmware fix has to be done at the factory so you want to be sure that the one you are getting has already been fixed.
I would rather crash an $800 heli once rather then a $200 heli every time I flew it. Crash repairs on a TRex 450 are really rather cheap compared to the purchase price and since the heli flys so much more stable crashes are much less frequent. I know of a person who has over $800 invested in a Blade CP including crashes and upgrades and it still doesn't fly much better than a CPP. For the same money or less, he could have bought a Trex, had a great flying machine from the start and still be money ahead.
I second that!!! I have a CPP too and just bought a 450SE and I must have atleast $450 in my CPP with all the crashes... :arggg: And yes, you'll crash it almost everytime you fly it... I did... and still do...

I love my Align Trex 450SE...

Hi Ken or any one else who can help
I got my estation BC6 charger and the EAC124 adaptor for my battery type but I ave a problem when I plug it all in and hit start the charger comes up with the message CONNECTION BREAK. on futher inspection of the EAC124 adaptor circuit board it only has a couple of leads on the four pin socket that is connected back through the adaptor lead??? do I have the wrong part or do I need to re configuer it to suit ?? I have a diagram with my charger but not sure how to the diagram is a bit unclear when it comes to the positive and negitive connections
HHHHEEEEELLLLPPPP!!

to Briefly quote one of our resident hot pilots. Buy the heli you can afford to repair

I'm working on a presentation around some of these tips ;)

Andrew,

I don't quite follow what you mean. Can you post some photos (just upload them to your Gallery here in Helifreak then copy the links into your post between {img}{/img} tags using square brackets not curly ones) ?

My balance connector is ok It tested with a multimeter fine I just couldnt see the track connections on the pcb as they were under the sockets(hard to explain !!) but the connection break was because I didnt hook my main battery leads up to the output of the charger OOPPS! I have been using a small charger that has only required the charging plug lead so was not aware (till i read the manual) that the main battery + & - leads needed connecting. Makes sense when you think it through ( even to a sparky ) anyway all is well
thanks for your willingness to help as always!!
Ps have ordered 4xHXT D9 2200mAh 3S 20-30C lipos from your recomendations earlier. they seem from reviews like a great battery and half the price of bettet known brands !!

I am the only trex owner in Tasmania (Australia) as far as I know

I must be the second trex owner in tasmania
where in tas are u from andrew? im up north west coast.
I started with a night ranger 3d and after crashing that countless times i can now hover tail and nose in easily and side in is not to bad but i wanted to upgrade to something better and stop pouring my money into it.
so i got a trex 450se havent flown it yet though because i havent got a gyro or tail servo yet but hope fully should b in the air in a couple of weeks :D

djtedatlanta, I thought I was the only one with this problem, I know a trex fund and am spending my time on the Sim and playin with my revo. The CPP has been put up on the self and maybe I will go back to it at a later time ( much later).
