I just talked to a guy at Horizon to find out if my new dx8 needed to be sent in. Long story short he doesnt know what the x on the end of my radio pid means and he suggested sending it in unless i had gotten it directly from Horizon within the last month.

When the SB was released initially, it had complete PID numbers MINUS any lettered suffixes including an "X". Caused LOTS of confusion so Horizon changed the SB to reflect that ONLY the first two letters of the PID need be in the SB range. Any numbers or letters following the intial two letters are irrelevant.

Under the initial SB, my radio wasn't on the list. Under the revised SB mine had an applicable first two letters in the PID, so I sent it in despite the fact that I'd not had any issues with the radio.

Grab yourself a Snickers, 'cause you aren't going anywhere for a while!

Sorry...been on a DX8 rant tonight; just now feeling everyone else's pain, waiting on it to be returned. Here's to hoping our radios return from HH flawless and we can speak nothing but good about them in the future.

Dont be sorry, I love snickers and my last dx8 had to be sent in twice and I never got a free receiver either time. Sold everything and got out of the hobby a few months ago. Decided to get back into it and try the dx8 again...go figure it has to be sent in and I better be getting a free receiver for compensation...if not...dx8 for sale, hello futaba 8fg:thumbup:

If it was easy, everyone would have a heli.

I think you will be happier if you do that right away. Been having sporadic issues with my 6SE banking hard left during flight and have been under the impression that it was a problem with the VBar initializing. Well, last night I noticed that pretty much every time I boot up my DX8, the servo centers are showing different values. I've been putting off sending the radio in for the DSM2 and gimbal recall (even though my right stick is showing SEVERE interactions) because I've been flying so much recently. Well, I just ordered a 8FGHS and after Horizon sorts out my DX8 it will be up for sale.

I loved my DX7 and never ever had a problem. Got the DX8 and have had nothing but trouble. I would think about going to a X9503, but that radio has fewer features that I'm interested in, for more money, compared to the DX8!

I have zero confidence in my DX8 and wouldnt use it to fly a BNF parkflyer, not to mention a 2k+ 700 size heli. Have you seen this forum compared to the Futaba forum? The thread titles alone speak for themselves.

same, now back on DX7. Looking at the XG8 now - seems to have all DX8 features (and a few more). Much the same price. See http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1472005
