ok so ive had my cpp for about a full on week now. just had my first real crash hovering around in the garage. well all i did was set her down alittle hard. i was doing a crappy hover about shoulder height and im 5`9. well the tip of one of the blades smacked theground but just barely enough to mess up the front tip of it. i put my old sym blades that came with it ( i was using flat bottems) i now have a slight shimmy seems to becoming from the main shaft area. but my bigger problem that leaves me stumped is the tail wants to rotate clockwise all the time. if i get her lite on her skids i have to set the rudder trim all the way to the left to keep it from spinning around. btw i just replaced my tail motor, and ordered a dual tail motor conversion. im not asking for you guys to tell me whats wrong kinda hard to do with my bird. but since i am new to helis if i could get a list of what to check, and how it should be when its good to go. that would be all the help i would need... thanks

I know you dont want to hear this but it sounds like a pitch problem to me. I'd bet $100 (if I was a betting man). Sym blades and flat bottoms lift differently.

Check the usual:

1. MainShaft. While rotating there should be no wobble. Look at the tip of the head. The screw shouldnt deviate from rotation (if the shaft is bent the screw will appear to enlogated while rotating).

2. Spindle. Remove blades and turn one of the spendle screws. If the opposite blade grip moves in any direction the spindle is bent.

3. Blade Pitch. Sym blades should be at zero pitch at half throttle.

4. Tracking. While rotating, the tips of the blades should line up.

5. Balance. Check that the blades are the same weight.

6. Linkage rods & ball joints. Make sure there all on correctly. Sometimes after a crash they look ok at first but may have slipped over the ball.

Again, $100 says its the blade pitch. The tail motor speed is directly related to the main motor speed. The faster the head goes the faster the tail goes.If there isnt enough resistance on the main the tail "out runs" the head. If I'm wrong I will appologize.

so is it normal for the tail motor to spin up first, when applying throttle from a dead stop ?

thanks man, im going to go check for the mainshaft, also going to go to the lhs and pick up pitch gauge after work and some more flat bottem blades. what should the pitch be with flat bottem blades ?

one last question, ive been flying with it in stock trim. ive set the radio trims but is there anything ont he heli its self i should set to tighter spec's or check that they are good.

If you messed up one of the blades, it may fly fine, but increase drag will make changes in headspeed want to turn the helicopter more, so the rudder settings would have to be changed to keep up.

If you do mess with your rudder settings, keep in mind that you have to power down each time to feel the new setting.

thanks guys. the tail still drifts strongly to the left but the with radio trim slider all the way to the left it counters enough for me to be able to correct the rest of it. i just ordered a dual tail motor conversion, and put a aluminum swah plate in. wich the new swash plate helped out big time in keeping the heli its self from drifting around. my hovers would be rock solid if i could fix the tail drifiting.

You could also adjust the proprtional pot on the 3-in-1 until the tail stays in one place. Thing is you have to unplug the battery everytime you adjust it. Its all in your instructions on how to do it.

ya that was next step, i just need to sit down with the book and do some reading.

wich i just did and she is now dead on, thanks for all the info. now i can focus on my flying and hovering a full pack

well got her to fly perfect. then i decide to start learning the tail and tryed to spin it around a full 360 and over corrected for a right bank. bent my main shaft again. but it all smooths out once i get to half stick in normal mode. i am wondering tho should i just stick with hovering around untill i get the hh gyro ?

HH gyro helps hold the tail but unless your allset with hovering in all orientations I'd wait. $90 for a CPP (even tho I have $400 + in upgrades) is pricy for a CPP.

well the thing is most times i have to fight my tail. so if i can get the tail the hold better then what it is now. i can get my hovering down, and start learning the hover from all directions..

It will be a big help.
