The AAA challenege is having to move due to the Bham Heli Club loosing it's lease. The Contest is still set for May 15-16 but it will be located some where in the close area. I have recieved permission from the Bessemer Radio Control Club to use their Field but will need to Confirm the move with David Harkey and Jhon Russel. This field is only 16.4 miles from the hotels and is easy to get to. Sorry for the short notice but David just found out about the field Today. I will post a location and map ASAP.

Ok, this contest is less then 2 weeks away.
If anyone is thinking about attending, please send your pre-registration info to me (hog81254@bellsouth.net) so that I can load your info into the CDPro software. So far, we have 14 confirmed contestants, but have heard from 10 others who stated they would attend. We need to hear from those 10.
Also, for those who are new to heli contest, it would benefit you to join our 'competition_helilist@yahoo.com' group. This will help keep you informed of all the heli contest around that nation, as well as keep you in touch with all the other contest pilots easier.

Hope to see you there!

UPDATE:

The Bessemer RC Club members were out in full force yesterday. They mowed, bush-hog, weed-eated the whole field. They repainted the runway/taxiways as well. There's plenty of room for Parking and Overnight camping (no facilities/no electricity).
So far, the following will give you an idea of how the competition field is shaping up:
(confirmed pre-registered pilots)
FAI - 10
Class 3 - 5
Class 2 - 1
Class 1 - 5

Don has heard from pilots in IL, NV, and So. TX who are showing interest in this competition. If the number of those who have called do indeed come to the contest, we are looking at 25+ pilots. The Triple AAA heli contest is shaping up to be one of the larger 'regional' contest, and will most likely force the CD's to consider this to be a '3 day event'. This is so that there will be enough time to conduct a minium of 3 rounds per class. Keep in mind that the Triple AAA Heli Contest registration monies go to help the USA FAI F3C TEAM fund. So please consider adding this contest to your calender! It's a great way to help prepare you for competition flying, as well as giving you an 'edge' at the NATS!
See you there!!
