well big al made it home safe and sound, thanks to my special guardian angel. great event folks and cudos to whomever cooked the pork loin, it was very good, and I'm a KCBS judge.

now to the saga of the Trex 600. it took a little longer to finish than I thought but it flew flew well today for a flight and a half...yes a half. but props first to my assistants to which I owe thanks to for assisting me with building this bird in an evening and a morning: Alan Haney and Charles Anderson for building assistance and , Bill Crowell for the power and lights and Monty and the rest of the guys for moral support.

the bird had its first crash today and it was a doosey. witnessing the crash were big mitch and charles. the radio went into failsafe for some reason and it bounced pretty good. the good news is for how it went in, full tilt boogey nose first, there's not that much torn up thanks to a new product I was trying. Mike Fortune of Fortune Model Products (shameless plug) has come up with a nylon bolt set to use for attaching your landing gear and other parts that need a 'weak link' in their attachment. i used the bolts to attach my landing gear and to attach my canopy support posts. see the before and after pics below. it allowed the canopy and gear to break easily from the model and not tear up other parts in the process.

other than the crash the bird was freakin awesone to fly! I have yet to see a trex 600 kit get built and have issues. this is the first I have fully built (with noted assistance) and after building this one and helping set up a few more that all I can say is if you're one of the very few that don't have one, WHY NOT!?!

thanks again for the great hospitality and kudos for the event,

Big Al, that sucks man, I hoped that I'd taken all my crash-mojo off the field when I left!! But your late nite marathon build was a site to behold!

MondoBigThanks also to you, Bill, Charles, Alan, Cliff Wes and Brian, for the hands on recovery effort help after I caught a sudden gust of stupid and put my 600 in inverted! Thanks also to all yall (too many who's names I didnt catch, sorry) who came by to lift my spirits afterwards.:noteworthy

See all of you again soon!

Quote-If yer lucky, I may even break out my signature move: the high altitude-questionable-attitude beginner's inverted hover!

Monte, Is that what that was?

:rolling:rollingIndeed it was, but I forgot about the extra altitude part. That should have read; "come, see me get my first crash out of the way!"

To add In$ult to injury, now there's fluid leakin out of one of the cells of my EVO pack.

We'll be keeping things well off the ground for a bit :YeaBaby::oops::YeaBaby:, thankyouverymuch.

Alan, I'll have pictures up soon, I've got to resize em down to 800X600 so it'll have to wait till later

few more, the pic of Wes would have been cool, but I had the aperture too tight, and he's off focus.
