Hey guys, how are you accessing your glow plug which is hidden behind the throttle servo?

I'm sure this dictates the use of a remote glow for starting, but when you have to remove and replace the glow plug (or just remove it after flooding the engine), how do you get around the throttle servo?

I hope there is a neat answer to this that I'm just not getting....

Rock,
Your right the servo is infront of the glo plug a little, But I'm still able to get my igniter on the plug. And as you said a remote igniter would work here very well.
I use a plug wrench that looks like a srcew driver the correct size to remove the plug. although it might be close you are able to get to the plug as needed.
Thanks Rusty

Solved this little problem!!!

Was showing off the Hurrican to the guys at the field, and one of them came up with an ingenious fix. You know, the really simple kind! (Thanks Dennis)

He said just mount the servo from the outside and not the inside! Duh! But then I said there would be a significant angle in the linkage between the servo and the throttle. He said just put the ball on the inside. I'm thinking I forgot to turn my brain on that day!!

Anyway, went home and did this - now the servo is way out of the way of the glow plug! I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Now why didn't I think of that!

I did :D

The only drawback is that the servo is close to my Hatori exhaust. Time will tell if this causes any problems.

Check out the next issue of RotorWorld for the pictures.

Hey Rock,

That's exactly what I did when I built ours 6 months ago, sorry I didn't see this sooner, been running around dealing with work stuff :( if you still have an uncomfortable angle on the rod to the carb you can also use an FMP standoff behind the ball and horn to give you another few millimeters of space, I didn't need anything and the bird flys great, you can get the linkage at 90 degrees and linear no problem, I also have the servo gear at the top of the opening, clears the Hatori JK pipe with plenty of room and I also had an MPII on it in the beginning.

The guys with the AS50 will find that the frames are cut horizonally for the throttle servo, the Hurrican's frames are cut verticle.

Sounds like you got it all worked out :D

Here is a picture after I remounted it. The angle of the link is fine. This should work great...
