I've had the BCPP for about a month now and this is my second tail motor! Luckily it started to die as I was only hovering about 4 feet up. Not sure if this happened naturally or because of me hitting the tail too hard in grass in the past. What are your thoughts?
What is the best upgrade for this, GWS DD or dual tail motors? Is there a difference?

If you ignore the general handling issues with this heli, the tail motors are by far the biggest complaint.
Some people had them last for months, others last less than 2 weeks.
It probably is NOT your flying that did it.
I just did the DD swap on www.bladecprepair.com and THAT motor lasted me about 20 minutes of hovering. Other people such as rstacy has had very good luck with this setup. I plan to give it at least one more shot. (in case I screwed it up  )
One guy here, Buzzkill, has done a DD version using a brushless motor. It's not an easy swap, but it has some good chance of working.
The E-flite forum rep, rstacy has had good luck with the DD setup, but he uses a seperate controller for it.
BTW, his preferred setup is as follows:

Check with GinoCP. He has done a lot of testing with the dual tail.

I have heard of motors failing early. This has not happened on ours.
The best way to shorten the life of the motor is to stall it.
If anyone's helicopter is in the habit of laying on it's side, make sure that you cut power immediately.
