I just recieved my HDX 450 V3 and went to building and as soon as i got to the head i started seeing differences between it and the one in the video that Finless made.
First off mine didnt come completely assembled as none of the links were put together so i had to disassemble the fly bar cage to get the ball link on.
Anyway after making the linkages the length that Finless suggested in the video nothing above the swash plate is level not even close.
Has anyone else run into this problem?I put the links together and hooked them up the way it looked like the one in the video was but things are way off.
Does anyone have different measurements for the linkages?
Finless had 50mm,48mm and 29mm lengths on the linkages.

The links didn't come assembled. Finless Assembled them before shooting the video would be my guess, as he says he's 'Starting around 50mm'... that leads me to think HE assembled them off-video.
My V3 was the same way, and I also had to 'adjust' the metal guide pins for the washout as they were bent enough to bind as the swash went up the main shaft. Got that straightened out tho.
You'll also note the Anti-Rotation plate for the swash is completely different and that you have an extra blue aluminum block in the V3 kit. This was easy to figure out tho.. it attaches to the anti-rotation tab then is held in place next to the swash with screws in the frame to the metal blocks. (Easier to tilt out of the way to remove the head assembly this way.. just loosen the screws and the anti-rotation rolls back off the swash pin.)
On another note. the Futaba 9650 Digital servo is a MONSTER to mount on this bird. If that's what you were going to use for the tail pitch servo, I'd suggest getting a Micro Digital with enough torque instead of the 9650. It throws the CG off quit a bit due to its size and weight.) [ I guess that HELPS if you have a heavy battery tho...] ;)
I'll see if I can post my lengths for ya. Yours may be closer to my V3 links than the original video for the V1 kit.

Ok, my linkage on the V3 kit came out to:
Servo to Swash: 51mm (total length end to end)
Swash to Upper control arms: 48mm
Flybar to washout: 31mm
and Upper arm to bladegrips: 27mm
On another note.. the V3 landing gear is CRAP. The end caps are a nightmare to get in, and without set screws to hold the rails to the struts, you're forced to try bend the loops open enough to get the gear through the struts, yet.. keep them tight enough to hold.. Money says you scratch the hell outta the blue on them. lol :(
I'm also tossing a pic up of how I had to mount my 9650 (Just in case that's what you're using on the tail and are still scratching your head as I did...)

Just keep in mind with the servo mounted on that side of the boom. A blade/boom strike can take out the servo. Not a cheap repair if it happens. Just some thoughts. As was said. Gyro on top=bad as well.

Hey Phyro, can you post where you mounted your 9650? This is the ONLY way my brain could come up with to mount it using the stock hardware. lol
I did also move the 401 to under the shaft.. I hate the way it looks, but if it saves me $100 in a crash I guess it was worth it. Would have also been nice if the frame had DUAL Gyro plates so you could mount above or below and still have a nice flat surface instead of resting on on the underside of the tail shaft blocks.

Hi Guys,
Just wondering, is HeliDirect the only place where I can purchase replacement CNC parts for head and tail assmebly?
Also, does anyone know whether V2 head assembly would work on V3 kit?

Well this heli not made bij HeliDirect (of course) it's actually a CNC Deluxe 450. It comes (as you can see on the box) in different configurations and is sold all over the place. The HDX branded one is pretty cheap compared to the others, so it's one of the best places to buy one. However spare parts can be ordered all around the globe. Just google around a bit.
