I have switched to sym. blades bc they were really cheap online....I read online that if you use these you should have a 9T pinion? What is that? I think the main motor with the CPP already has 9 teeth? What if I switch back to flat bottom, do I need to switch the teeth? Help!

No you should be fine.

Yeah the stock CPP setup has the 9t pinion. The pinion is the little brass gear thing that is attached to the motor. It allows the motor to spin the main gear (the big black gear).
Eflight recommends using the 8t pinon with flat bottom blades on the stock motor. I never bothered changing the pinion when I switched to flat bottoms. I think the recommendation is made for ideal flight conditions. You'll be fine with the stock pinion.

I'm currently using the 8tooth motor with the eflite sym blades. So far its more stable in windy conditions but its a bit twitchy. I need to tame it down a bit or get used to it. In fact its so twitchy if I farted it would send the heli in a unwanted direction. :badair:

try lowering the pitch a hair. You get a bit higher headspeed at a given pitch.

8T will not provide sufficient head speed with symmetrical blades. That is why it is twitchy. Use 9T with them. Use 10T with flat bottom BUT with 8-cell nimh. Use 8T with flat bottoms if you are using 11.1v lipos.

That explains alot. Damn I thought by putting sym blades on I could fly a bit better in the wind. But instead it made it worse. I slapped the flat bottoms back on and it flew better but its still windy outside. This Sux! I wasted 18 bucks :arggg: :arggg:

Are the teeth on the main gear different than on the HoneyBee CP2? The stock pinion is an 8T with sym blades and I have never had a problem with them, but I am using Li-po. I thought the Blade CPP came with a li-po?

There are pinions that don't quite mesh with the CP2 main gear. Even ESky themselves have come out with less than perfect pinions here in Asia. Always roll the pinion on the main gear before mounting. See if it feels smooth. If it feels gritty, it could fry your 4-in-1.

Ah, thank you for that bit of information! Now that you mention it, I did see somewhere before that some of E-Sky pinions don't mesh with the the E-Flight Blades' main gear.

Two pinions seem to be out there. The one with a gear and narrow neck and the one with all gears the entire length. I believe the all gears one is for Walkeras. These have fatter teeth and feel gritty on the main gear. I've toasted 4-in-1s with these.

The same with tail motor pinions. I had encountered two types as well. Now I simply don't trust the packaging and manually roll each pinion I use. For the gritty ones, I pull them out with a GWS gear puller and press in old ones that I know are good.

I get the bad ones when I order motors and Asian merchants send me them instead. They are usually bagged with no labels. But I had recently received an ESky bagged main motor with the fatter pinion. Merchant claims these are what ESky is coming out with.

Same, I got one of those too. I haven't had any real problems with it but I had to move the motor slightly to get it to mesh. I still have my old pinion but I need a pinion puller so I don't tear up my new motors.
