I am trying to locate some instruction on how to setup throttle hold... for a n00b... Mine seems to go to 0 stick when I initial it... I know I am doing something wrong.
I have a Futaba 9CAP, so if anyone could lending a helping link or help me to understand the directions in the manual a bit better it would be much appreciated...

I'll assume you have a glow engine heli. From [ADVANCE(HELI)] go to page 1/2 and wheel to *THR-HOLD. Press switch and using up/down cursor go to top and change the MIX> from INH to off or on with the rotating selector. You will get either off or on depending on the position of the throttle hold switch which is switch E on a 9CA. Now using the up/down cursor switches go down to POSI> and set the % to a figure that will close you throttle to a nice idle without killing the engine. Now with switch E in the back position you will have throttle control. With switch E in the forward position you will be in throttle hold.
One side item. If you are using a heading hold gyro be sure to inhibit REVO mix because it is by default active in the Futaba 9C series transmitters.

no... using a TRex 450... will it work the same...
I followed the direction in the manual... like you wrote above. When I test it on the ground, it started to spin up... I thought throttle hold cut the motor and allowed the blades to spin to control the "auto"...
Somewhere on here I read something about Throttle Cut... would that have anything to do with it.

It works the same for you T-Rex although you usually don't have to adjust the POSI>. Throttle hold does cut the motor. With the throttle hold switch in the off position you will have full control of your throttle. With it in the on position power to the motor will be cut and you will only have control of your collective. Remember throttle hold "off" means you have throttle control and throttle hold on means that your throttle is off. The switch position for throttle hold is the forward position of switch E on your 9CA. Throttle cut is not used on electric helicopters.

I will have to give it another go around in the morning... I may have been doing it wrong, but when I hit the switch the swash drops to the frame... I will look again in the morning though...
Your help is much appreciated :)

OK, I understand. There is a separate pitch curve for throttle hold. You will need to set that pitch curve as well. By default the throttle hold pitch curve is 0 to 100%. when you switch to throttle hold you change pitch curves and whatever you have set in the normal curve is no longer in effect.

Is that set in the advanced heli menu? Do you have a recommend setup?

Yes that's in the advanced menu. Since you won't be doing auto-rotations in you T-Rex for quite some time if ever there is no particular setup required. If you don't like the swash jumping around set it up like your normal curve.
