So i'm about to try and update my 12z. I have never done so, or even messed with a cf card or reader. Do i need to save all my model info from my transmitter to my computer before i try and update? Next i downloaded the update (thanx rcfan) and extracted it to my desk top. I've read the ffc site and believe i can get the files onto my cf card, and i understand about having to put the tx into update switch position. After i've (hopefully) updated my tx do i have to adjust any saved model settings or should i still be able to go fly? Where would the "manual" relating to the software upgrades be? (how to use shift selection where its menu is located, how to use cyclic ring and where it is etc..) Sorry for all the questions, and thanx for the help

Updating does not affect the model memories.
Just drag the update file from your desktop onto the CF card. Flip the update switch and put the CF card into the slot in the radio. Turn the transmitter on. Push the rotary dial when instructed. The update will start. This update takes a few minutes, there is a lot of stuff in it.
You will see all of the new compontents of the software in the menu of the radio when you power it up again with the switch in normal mode.

Here is the file. It came from the FFC on the Futaba site. All I did was click on it. It opens up and there is an update folder and PDF file. I drag the update folder onto the CF card. Update the transmitter and that is all there is to it.

Hi DavidH, thanks for posting the file. Is the version of this file 110 as in the zip. I am new to the 12z and not even sure yet of the versions. I bought the radio from someone and its warranty card shows it's 7 months old.

My version is V.1.0.4/V.1.31, according to my system info. Also, I am still reading/studying, and I haven't seen the update switch you mentioned in the above post. Where exactly is that switch, If indeed mine needs updating?

Your help is greatly appreciated, thanks, gordo

I bought the radio from someone and its warranty card shows it's 7 months old.

Warranty is only valid to the original purchaser of the radio. Don't know if you knew that.

Not sure about that, but I do not need any warranty work done, so no biggie. It's only 12 months anyway, so anyone that bought one when they came out is out too.

Hope for the dollars they sell for that they last a while. I didn't want the touch screen for that very reason.

http://www.futaba-rc.com/warranty.html

Futaba digital proportional RC systems are warranted to the original purchaser for one full year from the date of purchase against defects in material and workmanship. During this period Futaba will repair or replace, at our discretion, the defective component.

Notice the original purchaser requirement.

So, If I have a problem, which I do not, I will have to have the original purchaser handle the paperwork. And I see no real difference if the radio is in warranty, and there is a defect, so I have no problem In doing it that way if needed.

Since I bought the radio to specifically use the new 2.4 module, I probably won't need the warranty anyway. Besides, I have an almost new radio, In perfect condirion that I did not pay anywhere near what they cost, so I am way ahead of the game at this point, even If I did have to repair something.

In my original post, I referenced the warranty papers for one reason, to show how old the radio was for SW purpose only, so all this info is Moot anyway, but thanks for all the info anyway..
