I just found this forum. I race my Corvettes and motocross but I wanted something do in winter time. So I decided to go RC. I have a track for my buggy in my basement. I also have a few trucks & car.

I wanted more. I bought an indoor Hirobo XRB heli 11 days ago. I had the small heli outdoor today (no wind) and really like the free space. So I jumped in the vette, went to local hobby shop and bought the Lepton EX (hopefully if I get good at it I will be able to fly in winter time and not crash….).

Anyway, I read the instruction manual. I’m telling you, this is a new world for me. As opposed to my trucks, there is no shock, suspension, wheels or anything I can refer to… I think it will take me a week before I can have it together.

Ok here is the kit.
Lepton XR 3G
Futaba 6EX-PCM Digital Proportionnal R/C system
4 S3102 Digital servos
1 S9650 Digital Servo
GY 401 SMM rate Gyro

I’m not sure if I have the appropriate servo. So if you think I should change them, let me know before I install them.

As a new B, I hope I will not ask to many dumb questions

I just created a new RC Heli page on my website. You are welcome to visit my site.

Have you seen the finless videos that are at the top of the main page? They will definitely help you out. Beyond that just start reading and try to gather as much information as possible. If there are any local clubs, that would be a great help as well. Also buy a good simulator if you have not already. It will pay for itself in crash costs. I have seen a few posts where people have gotten the Lepton for their first helicopter, but I have not heard of their results. Just remember it is not impossible there is just a learning curve. A lot of people get discouraged because they crash. It is going to happen you just have to stick with it. Where do you intend on flying it in the winter. Isn't like below freezing up there for like four months?

Thanks. Yes I found the video last night. I just finished step 2-1. Good I have finless video. I watched all of them this morning before I start the assembly.

I practice with my Hirobo XRB and a friend should give me a simulator as well.

Yes it gets way below the freezing point in winter time here. But I'm thinking that if I can get good enough to fly without crashing, I could maybe take the heli out. I know electric works great on low temperature. I have my TXT 1 truck in the snow several times and there was no problem. But the plastic gets very fragile when it is cold. So any shock = destruction. Anyway this is just an idea.

I have my laptop computer on the table and watch the video again during the assembly.

I guess I thought that maybe you had an indoor venue in mind. But the first time you see how fast the Lepton will travel you will understand that it would need to be a large indoor area. Best of luck.
