Good you posted this link here Jermo. Everytime I read this story it reminds me these heli's can be VERY dangerous.
After all the fun and flying I tend to forget that sometimes.
Reading this sets me right again to always keep respect for dangerous tools/toys.
I work a lot with woodworking machines and the same respect has led me to keep my body in one peace after all those years.

You'd better check your failsafe (if you have any). If the receiver looses signal (that's when you turn off tour TX) it has to STOP the motor, instead of goiing full thro. Heliflying without a proper setup failsafe: that's dangerous and irresponsible.

I had my Stinger 50 out flying the other day and after landing an onlooker asked if these things (helis) can kill... I said yes they can. Immediately I thought of that accident in Texas a while back, but kept it to myself.
I didn't want to put the hobby in a negative light to the general public

This is the field at which I fly. Being a noob, one of the first things the vets at the field started going over with me, was safety. After a day or two, I was told why everyone at my field is so safety conscious. :(
I am lucky to be mentored by such a group of caring individuals. I really have a respect for what these helis can do now. Something I never even considered when I just ordered my 600 online with my tax refund.

I was lucky enough to train myself to fly using a SIM and have done so very successfully. I also live on a farm and have ample room to fly at my leisure. I used to fly planes at a field but got sick of the politics involved. So I gave up planes and took to helis so I could fly them at home without needing a runway. One thing the club taught me that the sim didn't was safety. I always wondered how dangerous it could be and this has really opened my eyes. I hope more ppl see this and realize. Considering I use SAB Carbon Fiber Blades and often have friends or family watching me fly. I just wont take the risk anymore. Nor will I land my bird only feet away.. So sorry to anyone that knew him.
