I just set up phoenix and wanted opinons on the 450. How realistic is it ?
The HH does not seem as good on here as my blade cpp in real life. I adjusted the sensitivity and did not notice much. Is this normal ?
Are there changes that should be made to make the 450 more realisitic ?

The sims seems great so far.

are you sure you have disabled the revolution mix in the transmitter? some transmitters have it on in a default model memory.

This might help:

Try setting your [GYRO SENSE] AUTO , RATE 0 & 1 = 72%, F. MODE NORM=0, STNT=0, HOLD=0 ..... [INPUT SELECT] AUX2=AUX2, GEAR=GYRO. Gear switch controls gyro. SWASH=NORMAL.

I finally got all my DX-7 settings sorted out and everything seems to fly and crash like normal! :arggg: I am still learning! :glasses2:

Still waiting for the return of my reprogrammed AR6100 from Horizon Hobby. :bomb:

Hi All! I'm getting a Trex 450 V2 next month and I've ordered the Phoenix sim which would arrive early next week. Do I have to change any settings in the standard Trex to make it behave more like the real thing? Are the settings applied in the Tx or Phoenix? For example, I'm using an old Tx which only have 3 point curve. Can I override it and create a 5 point curve in Phoenix or it doesn't work that way? I'm getting a DX7 next month but I would like to use my old Tx in the meantime and setup the sim to behave just like the setup that I'll be getting. Thanks in advance.

sniky ...... You must setup your Tx as if you are going to fly a real R/C heli. Follow Jermo's DX-7 set-up video and set up your TX using only 3 points. No reversing of servos, and normal swash. You can use expo if wanted. No revo. End points at 100%. The Finless Bob videos about ccpm set-up are also helpful to understand the Tx settings.

There are some .xls spreadsheets on the forum with different 450 set-ups .... and in general you can use these to guide you.

The standard Trex 450 download is sensitive enough without making any changes for a new pilot. I've added 10% expo and fly the sim at 90% speed .... and it still is a workout. I always finish with 10 minutes at 100% speed. Download the Trex 600 as well because it is definitly more stable. The stock .50 trainer is nice to fly with the training gear.

Phoenix is very cool !!!!!

Thanks Hughes500bob! Where can I find the xls spreadsheet with the different 450 set-ups? I can't wait to get my hands on this sim. I supposed it's much better than FMS.

sniky .... this is a good thread with some in it (http://www.helifreak.com/viewtopic.php?p=285432#285432) Your setting may definitly vary some based on your motor and model type.

The sim Trex450 is setup as a serious 3D heli. If you can fly it, you can fly the real thing. :)

I also have a T-rex nearly ready to fly and I will be using a Futaba 7CHP. I tried setting the radio up for use on the phoenix. After several hours with no luck I started reading posts here and learned that the radio has to be set up for the heli before it will work on the sim. Is this correct?
Now another question. I have been able to use my 6EXA and get some much needed sim time in. After having set the radio up I changed the hovering stability from the default to 100% (also read that on HeliFreak some where) and this seems to be about the same as my old beat up Blade CP hovers minus all the tail wagging. Is this about how the rex should hover? (I have downloaded the 450se)
And one last question. While on the sim and doing things I have never thought of trying with the old Blade, I have found that the rex will do a loop with out changing blade pitch. Is this possible in real life?

Hellooooo out there. Every one must be out flying.
I've still not received my back ordered rx so I'm still grounded and don't have the radio set up for the heli yet.
I would like to rephrase my first question on the post above. I guess what I was trying to ask is just how far into programing the 7CHP do you need to be to get it to work on the Phoenix?

Make a new model on your transmitter. Make it a "H-1" helicopter.
Leave the curves as they are for now.
Open Phoenix and calibrate your Tx. Set the different controls.
After that, fiddle with the pitch/throttle curves on your Tx.

Thats it! Ready to fly
