I've got a quick question about the main drive gear on my Trex. I've noticed there are three different colors; white, light blue, and dark blue. Do the colors mean anything? Is one better than the other? Will the ratio's be different? Does the color designate the number of teeth? I'm basically looking to increase my flight time and I can't find information on the drive gears.
Thanks!

For the main gear, no difference. For the tail drive gear there is a difference. And to totally confuse you there are two difference white gear setups, the light blue and the dark blue.

The light blue, dark blue and new white gear (with the one way setup like the ark blue gear) are all the same.

The original white gear set rant eh tail drive at a higher ratio giving high tail rotor speed. With very high main rotor speeds it could cause tail failure, so the light blue gears came out as a tail reduction gear set.

Pinecone,
Thanks for the reply, that actually clears up my confusion.

Thats strange. I was told the materials were different........ :dontknow

I only have the light blue and dark blue gears, and they do seem to be different materials.

He asked about ratios and number of teeth, not materials. :)

I feel dumb to admit this, but I still don't know if my Sa has the reduced tail rpm. The tail drive gear is white. I want the reduced tail speed. Should I buy the blue tail drive gear? Do I keep the pulley that I have on now?

SA comes with the old standard tail drive, IIRC.

So you will need to change to the light blue tail drive gear or the the blue or white next gear setup. You will also need to change the front tail drive setup. The gear that meshes with the large gear is different number of teeth.

Thanks Pinecone.

I was told the dark blue gear has metal in it to make it stronger. I found it to be noisier than the white gear which would suggest it's harder.

From watching "Finless" video about the overview of the Trex 450SE V2, he mentions that the blue main gear now has 4 screws for easy swapping of some component. Seems like a note worthy difference between the new blue gear and the old gears standard on the 450SE V1.
