Hi all,
Since this balancer can connect 10S, 5S+5S..
why cannot connect 3S+3S+3S ?
The manual never said about it can connect three pcs of 3S to charge.
-thanks

You can. And there is a schematic around of a special cable to be used with a 210V balancer when charging 3 x 3S packs at one time.

http://www.helifreak.com/viewtopic.php?p=5907#5907 Here is an excellent past post for you to read on this subject. It can be done .... but it is a much more complicated process that should not be attempted without the proper equipment and experience.

Although if you use a 1010C and a 210 V balancer with proper cables, it will take care of all of that for you.
I have a sheet that supposedly came from Charlie Wang at TP on how to make a calbe that will allow you to use two packs plugged into Bank 1 (one into each Group A and B) and the third pack into Bank 2, Group 2 to balance all three packs at the same time.
You have to take a 6 pin pigtail and cut it apart and wire it to a 4 pin extension lead in a certain order.
Since I cannot be sure of the provenance, I will not post it. But someone could contact TP about getting it directly from them.

Pinecone, can ya e-mail me a copy of that sheet? I'd love to take a look at it...

Nope, I don't seem to have the file, just a printout. But let me look around.
Got it, will send.

So is ANYONE using the TP-1010C and TP-210V to charge in a 3S+3S+3S configuration?
I'm currently using a 3S+3S configuation at 1C with great success, cell imbalance is usually less than 0.06V before charging.
RunRyder has an image similar to what Pinecone describes, but the manual states not to use both Banks 1 and 2 because of shared pin connections. Hughes500Bob's link results in a 404 error.
I was thinking of hacking up some 4 and 6 pin balance extensions and wiring them up like the diagram below.

Does anyone know a reason why this wouldn’t work? Also, does pin 5 and 6 on group B need to be tied together?
Any feedback would be appreciated before I potentially destroy a $100 balancer.
Thanks in advanced,

Well, after an overwhelming lack of response, I tested the configuration from my last post. Balancer recognized the nine cells, and the charger was happy to charge the three packs. Unfortunately, charging at 1C, it seemed the balancer had to work pretty hard (got hot) to keep all nine cells in balance, and subsequently took longer to charge.
I’ve since returned to the 3S+3S configuration, but now I charge at 2C. The balancer seems to work less in this configuration (gets warm, but not hot). I can charge four packs in 3S+3S at 2C (about an hour) in less time than three packs in 3S+3S+3S at 1C.
Anyone with a TP-1010C and TP-210V care to share what configuration/charge rate works best for them?
Regards,
