I just popped over to Horizon and saw the price of the new Blade belt drive tail conversion. Ready for this? $287.99. Yes you read that right. Warning: I am going to rant!
First I have to ask, Are they smoking crack?!?!? Lets see.
Compy 300 $89
Mini Titan $139
Trex XL $199
Blade CP Pro $249 RTF
Trex 450 SE (V1) $359
Micro Heli Belt Drive Conversion $287.99
Hmmmm...........

I had to check that again.
That would make a CNC Blade or 300 class heli from Microheli, including CNC head: $425.98 < you can damn near get a Trex 600 kit for that, certainly a Trex 450SE V1 and numerous other helicopters for less.
Are they serious? Am I the only one totally appalled at this outrageous price? Maybe I'm just poor? Cheap? All of the above? Probably. But, come on people, they have to be insane. I know people will buy it. God I hope I dont. If, you have enough money to buy this thing then please do us all a favor and post the review explaining how this thing could possibly be worth that price. I know the options for a belt drive 300 heli are extremely limited but, I know there's a ton of companies that could produce a belt drive conversion for far less.
If this was a sick April's Fool joke then by granny they got me. If its not, can somebody please tell Microheli that they have a typo on their site. I'm sure they meant $187.99 (which would still be more than a mini Titan Kit).
Rant off. :bomb:

What you have to remember is thats a *Ready to fly* helicopter. Yes, you can get a Trex600 kit for just about $425.98 as you pointed out, but then spend $1000+++ more on batteries, servos, gyro, controller, etc. Same goes for the 450 - the kit is just Step 1 - the cheapest part.
So you have to look at it differently - is $425.98 for a *Ready to fly*, belt-driven-tail helicopter over priced?

Wait a sec. Thats not a RTF heli. Its a belt drive kit. Go to www.microheli.com and scroll down to the bottom of the page. There's the picture of the thing. Please explain to me how that is ready to fly. If you actualy looked at the link you'd see:

Somebody didn't read the post. :arggg:
If I'm wrong I'll buy one.

I did read the post. You listed the price at $425.98. I guess I *assumed* that was for the normal blade CP + the kit. You linked to a price with no explanation, picture or anything. I followed the link you posted, and made my assumption off that. I read your post, and responded. If you want me to read something else, post a better link (which you did in the second link).

You can get a Compy 300 belt tail micro for $82 from www.aero-fever.com and www.heli-fever.com. A Freestyle belt tail conversion is available for $100 or so at www.freestyle-hobby.com. It still in limitied production. Mine will be shipping this week.

It's weird with that Compy kit.
I have a Compy 300 fiber frame, and it's completely different that the Compy 300 kit's frame. :dontknow

There are two versions of the J-Team fiberbody. One for the compy (wide boom mount) and another for the CP2 and FP.

The kits for the Compy 300 show a "stick frame" that looks a lot like the CPP stock one.

and here's the one I got...
There's defninitely no way I could run a belt tail, since the boom holder is for a 5mm CF tube. (I got mine from Heli-fever) The one in this pic has the 7mm (?) boom PLUS the beldt pulleys.
Strange!

Strange that they are the same name, but completely different designs...

Yes they are different. But even with the second pic, there are two variants. One made for the narrow boom (FP , CP, CP2) and another with a bigger boom mount for the Compy/ TRex boom. I do believe you can just buy the boom mount separately. But last time I checked, they were out of stock. Just notify heli-fever on what you need. Sadly it seems, nobody is answering emails this week. Probably on Easter vacation. Try next week.

Hitch,
Read it again. I thought the belt drive conversion was pretty much self explainitory.
I also said the Microheli kit + a CNC head. Which is pretty much what you would get in a kit.

The Compy 300 frame (like the one you have) is the same thing but with a 12mm tail block. You can get the block from Aero-fever and swap it out. Good thing is, the compy allows you to use a lot of other Manufactuers parts. I've read where people have used Trex 450 tail booms (cut to length) and tail rotor systems (the plastic ones).

Iiinnteresting...

I think I'll skip the belt conversion though... My heli is already going to be 400+ grams, and, well, I think my next big thing will be a complete TRex...
