Has anyone been able to find brushless motors for the cx2? I have lost count on hobby shop web sites i've visited. it seems they make them for every other type of aircraft. :glasses2:

Seems like an expensive way to get more power!
The CX2 / CX motors are "boxer" size slot car racing motors, probably 18000 rpm versions and very limited by the low voltage of the 2S pack.
You can buy 30,000 rpm versions from any slot car shop..try Professor Motor on the web. Brand names to look for are the Ninco NC7, or NSR shark motors. availble for around 20-30 bucks. Next step would be to run these with a small 3S pack for more voltage/rpm. All these motors will easily run at 12 volts. The 4:1 will also handle 12 volts..I've tried it.
I'm going to try this conversion soon with an older CX...I'll post results.

CX, CPPro, HDX450SE, many slot cars.

I'm running 3S in my CX2. I have two Vortex motors. They get pretty hot (about 115F max so far) but I have to say my CX2 it just insane with that much power.
The reason I did this was because I have mounted the CX2 into a Black Hawk fuse. I picked up a 1/35 scale model and the CX2 fits perfect without the battery tray. All I had to do was dremel four holes under the fuse and put the battery tray screws back in to the frame. The 2S wouldn't get it off the ground. I talked to a couple guys at my LHS and they said they run 3S on their's. I tried it and man what a difference! Not only will it lift the fuse its alot more powerful than the stock set up. Warning: try at your own risk. I've ran about 8 packs through mine without a problem so far. The motors I got are $8 for both so I picked up four. I'll post some pics of the fuse (without paint) if you want to see it.

I'm using a stock e-flite CPP battery (3S 800mah). That's it. Again, try it at your own risk.

Any chance you could weigh the scale fuse? Thinking of the same conversion.
Which kit did you use?
Thanks,

ya, I'll look for what brand it was. It's just a plastic model. The two halves weighed in at 64 grams. I'll weigh the whole thing as soonas I can. Anyone know the stock weight of a cx2?

I have found that upgrading to a better battery gets you alot more power. a 2 cell Thunder power 730 mah LiPo has almost twice the power of the stock lipo pack. The TP battery has a much higher discharge rate therefore alot more power throughout the whole flight.
Brushless CX has already been done, and the people who have done it recommend against it, its far too expensive for what your getting. Stock or near stock seems best.
