I have seen alot of places offering upgrade parts for the Blade CX but who knows if all these parts are equal in quality. I would like to go all aluminum and a better grade motors, a carbon boom along with a diffferent fusalage. Some of you guys that have done this where has the best quality for the price.

I have the same question
Two days ago I crashed my BCX2 and the lower rotorhead was broken. I asked myself if the aluminium head would be better. The lady at my local shop said something very intelligent. Before I used to suspect her to be a bit silly. She said that adding a piece of more solid material to a system of not that much solid plastic would cause the system to break somewhere else.
That seemed very intelligent to me.
Anyway, if anybody could help us by sharing his or her expierience with all those tuning parts: Please tell us.
Thanks

So, I broke my inner shaft top. Replacement was sold in whole shaft assemblies with plastic replacement at $10, aluminum at $20 at Local Hobby Shop. Seemed to that if I got just one breakage less, it was worth it. Can't comment on anything else, but seems to fly better than with original parts.

you cant go wrong with upgrades for the cx cx2. all aluminum parts are quieter stronger and do give a better performance. after a hard crash it is easier to replace the weakest link most likely the blades. purchasing these upgrades is time consuming because there are so many sites to chose from, but the prices are usually competitive. :glasses2:

My CX2 has all the e-flite aluminum upgrades. The only things I've ever had to replace after a crash are the blades. Microheli.com offers aluminum upper and lower blade grips for the CX2 that use lama2 blades. They allow the blades to fold in a crash. The grips are $30 each and the blades $3 a pair. I havn't gotten around to trying them.
I have installed the tail boom kit, shortened flybar, and "high preformance" motors (they have cooling vents cut in them) I found @charlieshobbies.com. The tail boom looks a lot cooler IMO, and is more streamlined. The cyclic seems a little snappier with the shorter flybar, but the motors, eh, whatever. Perhaps they would cool better if I tried a stronger battery?

Rufusis, I've seen it a dozen times but still can't remember-- where to go for the tail boom kit?

That's how they make their money:
As soon as we are addicted to bcv2 helicopters they'll want us to replace all the cheap plastic parts by the more expensive aluminium parts which actually also come from E-Flite as far as I know.
Yesterday the gearwheel for the upper rotor also broke and I wished to replace it with a aluminium one.
Anyway a nice peaceful and healthy kind of addiction.

The gearwheels don't come in aluminum, for any heli. microheli.com also...nevermind

I see. Didn't know that.

You can get a Aluminum main gear for a CPP. There isnt one for a CX/CX2 that I know of. Personaly, I wouldnt recommend an Aluminum gear for anything. I own one for the CPP because I bought some parts from a guy that was upgrading. Never used it. I guess it would work but it would probably be loud as hell and wear-out quick.

The only aluminum parts I would use are upper and lower rotor heads and the swashplate. The microheli blade grips are terrible, even if you manage to get flying with them, your flight times are reduced by a signifcant amount due to the higher weight that must be driven. On a scale of 1 to 10 the microheli blade grips get a 1.

Thanks wonder frog, I was about to order those grips just to satisfy my curiosity. She flies fine now and I won't even mess with it.

Carlo, were you able to get the upper blade grips to work without toilet-bowling?

I think the microheli blade grips are awesome, I saw very little reduction in flight time. I did have t take a pair of needle nose pliers and form the ball link to the upper grips to make the flybar move free. Other than that the grips are avery nice upgrade.

So the upper grips worked for you? NO toilet-bowl effect?

Yup they worked great just takea pair of needle nose pliers and work the ball link around the ball to loosen it and fit it to the ball. Also i reccomend using the stock cx blades by cutting off the blade monut and drilling holes to use in the micro heli grips. The e-flite blades have less flex than the micro heli blades.

Wow, your the first person I know of that got them to work. I tried everything and couldnt get rid of the toilet bowl.

Carlo, were you able to get the upper blade grips to work without toilet-bowling?
Yes I got it to track and hover fine, took quite a bit of tweaking and some frustration. After seeing the normal 10 minute flights reduced to 5 minute flights I tore them off and put the stock plastic blades back on, flight times went back up to 10 mins. I did not notice any improvement in how the heli flew except it was more sluggish with the microheli grips on.

So what did you end up doing to get them to work? I spent literaly hurs trying to get mine to work. I hate to let these things beat me.

You have to make sure the flybar moves very free. tap the fly bar and it should bounce around 3 or 4 times.

I tried all that, my flybar moves very free and smooth. Maybe I got a bad set?

Are you using the microheli blades. If you are modify the stock e-flite blades to work with the grips. The microheli blades flex alot. The e-flite ones are much stronger.

I really hate my Blade CX2... Don't get me wrong Its really fun to fly but it is high maintenance.
It would be great if it was big enough to fly outside, but every time except for once wind has gusted up or in some way or another whipped it out of control and usually something breaks.
My Uncle has one the he got for $90 on I think xheli.com which seemed more durable compared to the e flite but didnt seem like it would be as easy as the CX2 for orientation purpose. I sorry if I probably made little sense...
