with cost not really being a factor which turbine heli should i get. basically looking for the "mack daddy" if you will. I see Bergen and Jetcopter. is there any others. if you may please offer opinions on the differences. im sure they are all of comparable quality. this is obviously a big investment so im really relying on input from you guys

If I was buying one it would be the Vstar from www.helitech.nl. This one is capable of 3D.

This one from Bergen R/C also does 3-D , and the page and the people behind the machine are in English ,,so you can talk to them :D

Here is a vid of it doing 3-D

It is one fine US made turbine ,, with an English made Wren turbine that has as good of support behind it as the helicopter.

The Bergen certainly appears to be a capable machine. its the only one so far (video) ive seen doing 3D. the other realistic possibilities appear to be the Power Cat from East Coast Scale with Jet Cat power and Vario mechanics but i have yet to accumulate much info off the net on this one, and the Jetcopter SX with Vario/Jetcat which looks nice. a bit heavy and bigger than maybe im looking for and i read somewhere it needs some tuning to get rid of some bad tendencies mainly pitchyness in fff. the Vstar that Lauren mentioned would probably be my first choice but the fact that its across the pond with no US support is a big turn off. then there is the possibility of purchasing the power plant and fitting it to some other mechanics such as something from Min Air. i own and opperate a cnc machine shop and this would certainly be within my scope of abilities but now i would have a pretty big project on my hands.i plan to spend a considerable amount of time researching this new project and intend to make some phone calls (i will defenitley be talking to you boys from Bergen). in the mean time i would appreciate any response to my above comments or anything else from you guys. im definetly relying on info from you all. thanks in advance

I would be happy to send you some 3D links of my Bergen Turbine. Its reliable in hauling a camera aloft as well as aggressive acrobatics.

It sounds like you have the machines and ablities to do a mod ,, but sometimes its just best to not try and re invent the wheel ... there is more to it than just slapping a turbine in a bird and going flying .As we found out. Heat becomes a factor with G-10 and carbon fiber ,,,so there has to be specail mounts designed ,,, specail supports and such ,,that take time to find . But if you have nothing but time ,,it would be fun to do it .
As far as flying the Bergen came with no bad habits right off the board . It flies just like its brother,, the EB gasser .. only with a little more umph under the hood :glasses2: !!!!
Give Chris a call at 269-445-2060 and he will be happy to talk turbine with you and answer all your questions and you will be talking to the guy who makes them not a person that owns one or sells them for the company.
You can then maybe find out when he will be close to your area at a funfly and go watch ,,,, maybe even hover his bird ,,as he has been known to let competent pilots fly his bird ,,if they have a large credit card  :glasses2:

I don't fly turbines, but I can tell you that Chris and company are some of the best to deal with.
Support that you can't get anywhere else!

The Bergen guys are full scale aviation peeps too. They know about handling airframes and power plants. That's a bonus when designing a turbine powered heli in my book. :D

Hey,
Probably too late, but the WREN/Century Predator Turbine is up there with the rest of em at 3D flight :glasses2:
An old video now, new one to follow asap but it shows you the model all on the original 720mm main blades.

Nothing - the Bergens use Wren engines. Chris Bergen does a grand job and we are very happy to be working with him.

What's wrong with a little Wren? like Sara said nothing, my MW54 has been the most reliable engine I have ever owned! I now have about 36 hours on it and could not be happier with it. I can't wait for the MW44 to be available I want to put one into a Vario Experience. Craig B
