I JB Welded the threaded rods into my tail pushrod last night.
The trouble is... I left 26mm hanging out. I was supposed to glue it in to a depth of 26mm, not leave 26mm hanging.

So now my tail pushrod is too short. Hmm. I don't think I have any options for fixing this. Do I? I already tried heating it with a torch. I set off the smoke alarms and everything. The threaded rod on one end is so anealed now it is flexible to the touch.

...and the JB Weld didn't budge.

Mark,

I would get a new carbon rod and make it right just to be sure.

I ordered the rod and two new screws. $15

The worst part:
I did it the right way the first time... and then, before the JB hardened, I pulled it all apart and started over to do it the wrong way. :arggg:

Hey marked23
You can screw two nut onto the rod and lock them together close to the end of the threads. This will alow you to just unscrew after heating with a torch. Next drill through the carbon rod to remove the JB and start again.

Just curious. Central Hobbies sells carbon fiber pushrods in metric size has anyone used them? I was wondering if they worked.

Here is the link
Please post your thoughts re this

Be very cautious if heating the assembly with a torch. The carbon fiber IS heat resistant. The resin in the rod itself, IS NOT. You can degrade the resin in the rod or even totally destroy it then the rod will fail, use caution.
