View Full Version : Metal servo arms
My Bergen EB is setup and flying pretty good for the moment. I just get so worried about the plastic servo discs failing during flight and sending my camera into mother earth. What metal servo arms does anyone use? Also what size. Thanks,
Kyle

Metal servo wheels are NOT recommended.
The plastic servo wheels, in most instances, will NOT break in flight. What they will do, in a crash, is break, saving your servo!!
We use the same plastic servo wheels in our Industrial Birds and have never seen one break in flight. If this was a CCPM type of setup with only one pushrod coming off of the servo wheel, then maybe. But the push pull setup distributes the load around, making a breakage very unlikely.
If they get brittle or change color over time, then simply replace them. We're talking a couple of years here.

I agree with Chris. Use the round wheels. I am never seen one break in flight and only seen a couple that broke from the result of a crash. Just my opinion, but metal arms or wheels on servos on a heli are just bling.

Which wheels do you recommend, my eb has the stock white plastic that comes with the servo.
Thanks.

Thanks Chris. This heli was actually built by you, and I purchased it used recently.

Can't think of any better reason to fly it just like is sits :D

I think my paranoid eyes see little stress areas on the plastic. I shudder when I fly my Sony FX1.
