A little question, how would 105 mm tailblades improve tail performance over 95mm tailblades? I have 95mm radix now.

105's will definitely give you more tail authority as you are increasing the size of the rotor disk. Faster backwards flight, better piro ability in the wind and so on.........

With 105s I think you'll have to run 690 main blades. Kind of a trade off.

Why is that?
I've been told 710's and 105's for my R90 (with 8.27 gear ratio) is this wrong?

The very first R90s and the R60 to R90 conversion kit came with a shorter tail boom than the SE or later standards. If you have one of the early tail booms you will be limited to 690 mains with 105 tail blades. If you have an SE, a later standard or have a replacement tail boom you will be fine with 710s and 105 blades.
