View Full Version : 6003D - what helis. does it compare to

I am trying to get a fix on the 6003D - I just built a Razor which we all know swings up to 620, but the new 6003D swings up to 650mm I believe - please correct me if I am wrong.
My question is - isn't this new 6003D almost/close to an ION-X in size or not too far off.
The reason I ask - is because I like my Razor and considering an ION-X2, but if I can swing almost 640-650mm blades with a far better power to weight ratio - maybe, this is the way to go.
Can any of you Mikado experts help me out here. Basically, I want a larger heli. then 600mm, get similar performance to a larger heli., but not at the same cost.
There are a lot of choices out there these days - and the classes of helis. seem to be shifting into one another.
Thanks,
Jeff
The 6003d is physically smaller than the ion x, it's quite a bit chunkier.
Only advantage to the ion x is torque tube drive on the tail (which may or may not be an advantage depending on who you talk to).
I suppose the belt drive on the ion x2 might be nice too, but the new herringbone drive gear on the 6003d is supposed to be very quiet and withstand a tremendous amount of power as well :dontknow
The ion-x2 would weigh alot more than the 6003d.
I've thought about running 640mm blades and 12s 3700mah packs with a neu 1915-1y or an actro 24-4 with my 600 3d when it shows up. I would think it would blow the doors off an ion-x in the power to weight department :glasses2: .
You can't go wrong with the min-air stuff, but I think Mikado is about three steps ahead in the engineering department.

I totally agree well said NTM

Yeah, I am thinking the same thing - go with 640MM blades and 12S coupled with CCHV85.
Is there a pinion chart for Mikado - I guess once I get the heli., I can choose the pinion based on all the experience of guys on the board.

Buster1 i can tell you right now the Performance we are seeing in the stretched L10's on 6s is amazing there is nothing that can touch them performance wise
The 6003d stretched to run 640's or650's on 12s should make it a unstoppable 90 killer

Here are my prelim numbers for motor and pinion for the 6003D.
If I run a Actro 24-4 on 10S, optimum pinion will be 18tooth
If I run the Actro 24-4 on 12S, optimum pinion will be 15tooth
The NEU 1912-1Y on 10S, optimum will be 13tooth
Zpower 800 on 10S, optimum will be 13tooth
Orbit 30-12 on 10S, optimum will be 16tooth
If I run the Actro 24-3 on 10S, optimum pinion will be 14tooth
The 24-3 will not be the motor for 12S, rather the 24-4.
Those are my selections on what I will be looking at. I for certain will be trying to get ahold of a pinion up and down sizes from my selection "just in case" I am off abit, but should be real close.
I myself also only plan to do this machine on 10S, as I allready have a fair chunk of 10S lipos and going to 12S is not feasable for me at this time, perhpas in the future though. :)
One thing about running 630-650 blades,,,,,who will have these in a quality blade and how long before they are on shelves? I am willing to bet that size range is going to take some time for the big hitters to bite into, ie: V-Blades, Radix etc......

Shawn - very cool to send over that info.,
I am in for a Mikado for sure - not sure if the 500 or 600 yet - as I just finished my Razor, but I definitely want to explore this brand,
Thanks again,
Jeff
V-blades is supposed to release a 620mm blade soon.
I had planned to get Vic to whip up a couple sets of 640mm blades :dontknow
It would be the way to go for sure if I were starting from scratch, but I already have a bunch of 10s packs...
Should have gone 12s right from the start.

Do you have to stretch the 6003D to accommodate 640MM blades??
Also, I now have FP 5S 3700 and 4350 batts for my Razor - will these batteries fit in the 6003D in series.
Thanks,
Jeff
It'll take 640mm blades stock.
Those 4350s will fit and be perfect for a 10s 640mm machine. An actro 24-3 or a neu 1915 1y looks like the way to go for 10s.

cool - so, if you stretch the 6003D - I assume you can go to 650mm,
I think at this point, I am going to get the 6003D - the smaller choppers are great too - but I enjoy the stability of the larger helis. - and I also have made a substantial investment in the larger 5S packs and will probably also try 6S (12S) as well.
Is it possible to set up a heli. for 10S and 12S and change sets us via radio to handle different power.
Thanks,
Jeff
I don't imagine it will be long before somebody stretches one to run 690mm blades !
I would think it would be very possible to set up for both 10s and 12s with just a battery change. Just alter the throttle curve on one flight mode. Speed control may run hot being dialed back too much though, that would probably be the only potential problem.

what do you guys think of 11S - 12S may be too much strain on the heli., No?? Either way, I just placed a pre-order for one - any idea when they will be available,

It should handle 12s just fine.
The new herringbone gears are supposed to be quite a bit stronger.
I'm guessing June for the 600 3d :dontknow .

June!?!
Ugh, I pre-ordered one last weekend...and RH still says end of april. That would be nice, I'm not sure I can sit still 'till June

I still think considering the weight of the 6003D, it should cook on 11S - I guess I will try both - just need to find the motor that works well for both 11S and 12S

buster the Actro 24-4 would be a good 11/12S ticket motor.

Hey, I'm just guessing !
I tend to error on the safe side of things

I'll be trying mine with a 24-4 on 12S as well, I do beleive it will do just fine on 10S however. Unless I get "blown away" by how 12S performs on it I will likely just fly it on 10S with the Actro 24-3, that is my plan at the moment. The 5003D will be a NEU 1910-1Y or the Zpower 1100 series on 6S, 3700MAH FPs'.

My setup is going to depend on the gear ratios available i already have a few motors picked

Sorry to drag up an old thread guys.
I was entertaining the thought of updating the old Logo 20 to the Logo600 stretched for 690mm blades for Aerial Photography. Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a suitable boom and belt?

Zpower 800 on 10S, optimum will be 13tooth
Started off with this but after the pinion broke put on a 14t and it feels even better running at 75% on the 55-10-32 - FDR in the sticky.
