Who ever won the RC tek 450, enjoy it, I was the one who originally won it, and donated it back. You cant belive how much slack I got for giving it back, the local guys wanted to blow it up.

They just felt threatened by the new beastie on the block that seems to be getting a lot of interest. Nice flying by the way.

At any rate, what a weekend. I am sunburned and tired, but very happy I was able to attend and I appreciate the Chula Vista club hosting us. It was great to meet a lot of current customers and convert a few new ones.

A big thanks to Aaron Shell from RC-Heli magazine for his very nice demo of the RCT-450 Sky-Shark running the stock RCT-FM450 motor, RCT-40AGL ESC, and the new Air Thunder 2200 25C battery. Even in 12-15mph winds, he was able to go inverted and almost touch the head button on ground twice (yes, you could hear the blade tips scraping the asphalt)!

Looking forward to the next event.

Regards,
Scott

Yeah, it was a fun event again. (Thanks for the shirt Scott!) Met a bunch of new Helifreaks and got reaquainted with a few old ones. Spent a small fortune with the vendors and, like Scott, I got fried.

I just PM'd Will with a couple links to some pics I put up on my web site so look for those in the Event Photos sticky above.

Oh, and this pic is for Finless just because all the s**t he was giving me about it: :)

Hey, there's about 100 gallons in the bottom of it.. Don't think you want to be swimming in it tho. :) Nice meeting you as well, but you and Finless owe me some gas money. I had to drive a fair distance to get linkage balls for that tail rotor mod you guys did on my 450's.. :)

Skiddz, when it's finished, I'm moving in. Please have my room ready. :)

Yours will be the small brown structure on the side of the house with "Fido" stenciled above the door. Besides, you said I wouldn't want to see you in shorts. :) We can talk about it on the 29th. :)

Be sure to check them out if you couldn't come and those that went to the event relive the experience!

DAMN.... Did I have fun... One of my favorite Fun Fly's going! I attended last year and had a blast and this year was even funner!!! It's not just the flying, not just the people, not just the event coodinators....... IT THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE!!!
I dont know why but this is truly one of the best fun fly's going.

Good work Chula Vista RC Club!

All,
This was my first funfly and man oh man was it a blast. I met a few people (Kevin & Anthony) but conversed off and on all day with a lot of people. Everyone flew incredible IMO.
Torkboy
If your name is Ray than i really enjoyed your flying and your RC-TEK 450. I was the lucky one or at least i didn't realize how lucky till i got home and did some research. I am still newb and my mini titan is my fourth bird but first build and actually just learning what everything i have been reading is. Pitch curves etc. I have about 3min of flight time on my 3 previous birds because i had no idea what the heck i was doing.
Skiddz
I have 3 herniated discs and 2 ruptured so i was a hurtin pup by raffle time so i know what you mean by your back hurtin.
Finless,
It was great to finally meet you in person. I was the one that asked if you could look over my set up on my mini titan. You pointed me to bert but i did not know who bert was so i just left it at that. Maybe i can get you to look at my RCTEK 450. I downloaded your videos on the review and your Trex builds. Can't wait to start. I put all my cash / allowance from the significant other into my titan so it will be a few more weeks till i can get servos and a gyro. I will use my DX7 for the TX which will help.
Trooper Sam
Are you done charging your batteries yet?
Scott (RC-Tek)
Sounds and looks like a incredible heli. Nice machine work and very smooth operation. Can't wait to build and hopefully do it justice and not disappoint everyone by crashing it but i am still learning so expect a lot of parts orders from me.

Thanks again for the taking the time to put this event on an anyone who met with me. I learned a lot and I will be attending as many as i can. Definitely the most friendly bunch of people i have ever met. When is the next meet?

Im glad to see the RC Tek 450 went to a GOOD cause, and not the pile of parts my local buddies wanted it to be.

Enjoy it, and have fun with it, looks like a good heli :).

Jason,
I downloaded the vids from Finless. Sorry to get you mixed up with Ray. Now that i have a fly with face i have 11 vids of you on Saturday. Awesome flying. I couldn't get the dual flight with my camcorder but enjoyed the heck out of it. next time can everyone slow down for cryin out loud. I showed the vids to my dad and he said what the heck is wrong with everyones helicopters there floppin all around like somethings broke. Ha! Ha! I told him they were calculated maneuvers and took a tremendous amount of time to get it right. He said show me someday. I said no problem but youll be dead by the time i learn all those moves.

Awesome funfly as usual Don... Even though I didn't fly (I was having too much fun watching and socializing) I had a ball. Good thing I decided not to sack out in the back of my truck Saturday night.. My back got so bad today I ended up at the Orthopedic Surgeon for several hours of Xrays, exams and cortisone injections. Looks like they may have to cut me open and fix me up. :(

Maybe I can spend all my recovery time on the sim and get good. ehehe

I think this should be a semi-annual event. A year between 'em is too long to wait. :)

Sam, Finless.. You guys gonna be at Arbor this Saturday around 1:00-1:30? Thought I'd drive up afer my son's football game...

Oops, almost forgot.. Will's draggin' his feet on the links to the pics so...

and

I didn't do a thing to the pics other than UL 'em to my web space so if anyone wants 'em massaged in Photoshop, lemme know and I'll take care of it.

Don, feel free to use any of these pics (or the ones I posted last year) for your club's web site.

Kevin's right, a year IS too long. I was talking to Bob at night at Buzzin', and we really need to put our heads together to put at least one other big funfly on down here in So Cal so the wait isn't so painful.

Does anyone have information on that E-powered Vibe flying Sat?

Skiddz

I'd be all over helping to set something up. The only problem is "where"? I don't belong to a club and fly at a local vacant field. I wonder if I could talk to the Palomar Flyers and see if they'd be up for something in a few months...

Don't they have a fun fly at the Sea World RC airport?

So you all know I think the OCMA (DrDot aka Blasiter) may be trying to put something together at the OCMA field in Irvine. He talked to me about is last weekend and I told him I would give support. Lets see what he comes up with.

The E-Vibe is owned by a guy named Patrick. He is a local guy down here in SD who is also good friends with Curtis. I believed he got the idea from mr. Youngblood himself. anyways Ray was doing the flying on the bird. It was neat to see it fly. It was actually crashed just a week earlier and he wasn't sure if he was going to get it going again for the fun fly. He didn't disappoint!
