Yes, Mid-Winter Electrics is electric only, and planes and helis. Helis had one little area I would never feel comfortable flying in.

The Palomar RC'ers already have a heli fun fly, and it's pretty good, but it lacks something...there was a big fun feel to Buzzin' that theirs lacks. It might be a good idea to focus some effort on making that one bigger, if they're willing.

Yes I want another HELI only thing locally here that has the atmosphere that BTB had. I am sure with the folks we have around this area it can happen... I VOTE SAM to put something together ;)

Irvine is less than 40 mins from here - easily the same distance from here to BTB.. I'd be more than willing to help out where I can. I've helped set up quite a few large events in the past and am pretty good at getting people to donate stuff, be it services or hard goods - and sometimes money.

Yeah, the Palomar funfly just didn't have the atmosphere that BTB has/had. I think it was the lackadasial way it was run. It felt more like a regular old weekend of the usual club members flying instead of an actual event. Their food was better than BTB's tho. Can't compare carne asada to burgers and dogs. :) Unfortunately, since I'm not a member with no plans on joining, I probably won't have much (if any) luck helping them with the next one.

Well, Bob's right. If you want something done right....:)

For the Palomar field, we have Torkboy as a member, so we have a contact there. I'm also going to start talks with the officers at my field in Hemet, and see where I might get that to go. I've got offers of help from several of our friends, so we might be able to scare something up.

I don't know how fast I can make this happen, or exactly where, but I'm going to get this ball rolling and see if I can steer it somewhere useful.

Sam or anyone in this area... I will support ya by putting on a tech or build symposium or something. I would like to see more events in So Cal that WORK!

Ill start talking with ray about planning one around the same time next year, but actually not procrastinating about it, and make plans, contact vendors early/sponsors, and give it some time to advertise. Thats what that funfly lacked at palomar, it was only announce like 2 months before it was held, where as buzzin was announce 9 months before. I know the local guys can pull a good one off.

Assuming Ray Nemovi here - is Ray an officer with the club? Perhaps it might be a good idea to hit up the next club meeting and bounce it off the folks that attend? I know it's a hike for you to get up to San Marcos, but again, I'm not a member so I'd have zero pull if I attempted this myself..

Thanks Justin, that thing was just plain sick. I'd like to see a build thread with more info some time if Patrick is interested...
