Hey yall!

My bird is here, and I'm hoping to start the build this weekend, but the whole CA thing has me wondering, should I not use Loctite "Super Glue" brand Cyanoacrylate (because I just happen to have a new bottle here) on the plastic parts where indicated?

I've searched here, and the Align site, and the Jet Glues page and a general Google, but I can't find what type of plastic that Align uses in these kits. I'm also having trouble finding out what (other than viscosity and set times) makes one CA different.

I notice that most of the Hobby-store CA's are Ethel-cyanoacrylate, but I can't seem to find out what, exactly that Loctite 'super glue' is.

Any thoughts? I really don't want to risk embrittlement, but if it saves me a trip back to the store.........

Thanks all

All CAs use the same basic compound. It is just how they are blended to make a product that works for the intended use. Viscosity and set time are the two main things that distinguish one from another and make them usable or not for each joint.

I use hobby CA for all my CA needs, hobby and household and auto.

When people say "Don't use Loctite on plastic", they really mean thread-lock, not the brand.

Thanks all,

I decided to play it safe an went and got some zap a gap CA. Decided to go with the flow, as it were, than risk having a blade tossed through my liver. Never got to turn the first screw this weekend tho :arggg:

I do wish that I could find out exactly what kind of plastic(s) the 600 kit is fabbed from, and therefore could tailor the adhesives to the job, but I'm prob'ly the only one who's ever cared. I get obsessive about details. After all it's just a ball link.

peterob, thanks, I was wondering about loctite brand CA glue. Me and threadlock, we go waaaay back

Actually lots of people care, but then decide it isn't worth it as CA works great. :)
