View Full Version : Would this be a solid set-up?

Getting back into the heli scene. Had a 450XL a few months bad I had to sell to cover something, but now I've got a new job that's getting me much more money. I was thinking about picking up the 600DX. Would this be a good choice? I wanted something bigger than the Rex, as it got hard to see getting farther away, and I'd imagine this would be more stable. I figure I could always upgrade to the 3D if I get that far...or would it be worth it to just get the 3D version anyway?
I was thinking of putting it together with the following set-up:
Logo 600DX
JR 9303/2100 radio
Actro 24-3
Jazz 55
Futaba S9252 servos
Logitech 6100t gyro/6100g servo combo
TP 10S 3850
Unsure of what pinion to run. Looking for a balance of good power and good flight times. 20T...21T? Any suggestions on the kit itself (even if it be not Mikado), or changes to the set-up would be much appreciated. Thanks

Are you completely against the 500? If not, the cost of the 500 3D would more than even out with 6S packs over the 600. It would also be easy to upgrade to a 600 if you wanted to later.

Mike that setup will work really good!!
But wiht all the New 25c battery technology here i think 8s or 6s is goign to be the Hot setup

See the deal is, I was only into FF when I sold the rex. I was able to hover pretty comfortably in all orientations (though only really land tail-in). I'm not looking for something with over-the-top power. Just something that will be big/stable and yet get me into the big stuff when the time comes. I have a sim so it's not that I've gotten terribly "rusty" (not that I had much to lose).
I'd have no problem getting the 500, that's about the size of a .30 size nitro am I right? My philosophy was I might as well go big since I can afford it. That way I won't have to really do much upgrading to get me there when the time comes. Would it be worth getting the 6003D...maybe just put the DX paddles on it to keep the cyclic a little more tame? Or would it even be worth going as big as something like the logo rather than maybe a T-rex 600 or E625 (though I'd rather have the logo)?
8S even on the 600? What pinion would you run with that...and what kind of flight times can I expect with just basic hovering and FF?
Sorry for all the questions, just there's not much in the way of posts for this yet as there's a new helicopter. Want to get everything figured out before I go and drop such a large amount of money.

If you have the money and really want the 600, then go with that. You could probably get the DX and replace bushings and parts as you go but getting the 3D up front saves the hassle. The Logo has a huge amount of setup options that let you tame it down to hover like a 90 or go all out 3D.
For the money, the T-wrecks 600 is great if you still practicing but I don't think you'll be happy with 3-4 minute flights.
There are people like Bobby and I that just prefer the 500 because they're just so much fun and the size is perfect.

I wouldn't mind the 500. What would be a solid set-up running 6S on that?
How do flight times compare on say, a 5003D to a Rex 600?

Flight times between the Rex and Logo don't compare. You will get about 4 minutes on the Rex and about 7+ minutes on the Logo depending on your setup and flight style.
I'm currently running a Z30A-1100 motor on 6S and has a little get up and go. :WOW Running 6S on a 500 is a power house mainly because it's so light. My L10 weighs all of 5.0 lbs. AUW.
I don't have personal experience with any other power setup but Bobby tests everything so he would be very helpful in this area.
